Quoting: Dr. House For decades the Auto industry has been using robots for most of its assembly line process, from spot welding to painting, from sewing upholstery to assembling the engine. This has been a running trend since the advent of the Industrial Robot, essentially an arm running of a computer program. Today we have computers building computers, There really is no need for humans in the process of building your laptop or old school PC. Today we are seeing automation in even the service industry while you can either deal with a human pushing your store-bought items pass a laser reader, or you can do it yourself and deposit either cash or swipe a card through a reader without standing there wondering if some one asking you 'How are you today' means they really want to know about your latest bunion, or if they are just saying at as a programed response. Today I was introduced to the machine that will remove even my job. They have a machine that will 'print' a full house in a week, compared to what a team of men can build in a month. If the machines are taking over all the jobs, then how are we to make money? reckon we'll just have to redesign society, by changing what "value" a human has just as themselves, not by their productivity. this question reminds me of the comments made by that society engineer on the second zietgiest movie. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 2441948 United Kingdom 10/01/2011 04:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | whats this? every modern country should have a 80% unemployment rate. 75% of all hours worked are unnecessary time sponge to occupy the time of those that might realise how pointless what they are doing is. Machinery, robots (not cyborgs, assembly line currently in-use technology) and computers were all supposed to free mankind from soul crushing mind numbing needless labour. instead each 'advance' in fact creates more huge work for works sake 'industries'. 'revolutionaries' are arguing about interest rates, creating employment and 'fiscal realities' that aren't real. truly revolting. With in 5 to 10 years there will be no need for humans to do anything. Machines will program and improve themselves. This is the painful juncture we find ourselves at. This and transhumanism I believe is the essence of every problem on the world scene today. We havent yet answered "what am I". Now the whole concept is about to change. It will change much sooner than we expect. The next ten years will we more radically different than all of the changes of the last century put together. That the only true things we need in life are food clothing and shelter. Everything else is just bull sh-t. We did not choose these surroundings.. We were born into a system of slavery from the beginning due to the fake monopoly money society we have been brainwashed to accept. Money is just here as a control mechanism from an evil source. People..we should not live life as if it is a game to win or lose..This is were the problems begins.. We need to love each other as a species and care for all to protect humanity.Anyone who wants to replace the human life with a machine does not understand the real truth that has been taught to us but hidden though the media and the corporate elite. If we all spent our time making this a better world instead of spending all our time on our meaningless jobs so we have food clothing and shelter... can you imagine where we could go as a species. |

The question isnt 'what are we going to do when we dont need to work anymore' The question is 'what are they going to do with us when they dont need us to work any more' This already came up in a manner of speaking a few hundred years ago. Then though the question was: 'what are we going to do with them when they dont want to work for us anymore' Mechanization was a partial answer. Putting the ones that went against their programming out to pasture was another part. Well now brown cow, the chickens are home to roost. Will they put the rest of us out to pasture or out of our misery? That is the question now. Being put out to pasture hasnt worked out well for them studs. There is little chance it will be different for us. The only caveat is this. All they ever wanted was EVERYTHING. What do you do with the livestock, when even the livestock can have everything too? Everything with no skin off your nose? Hmmmm.... you could kill them all... what a mess. You could elevate them to your stature... noooo.... U kood keep them around just below you... ahhh Hmm we are already seeing that. Yes it seems to have been a slow transition by our standards. Yet here we are, well above where we were 100 years ago. |
