Re: Is America Dying??
This quotation is from Sir Alex Fraser Tytler (1742-1813). A Scottish jurist and historian, he was widely known in his time and was professor of history at Edinburgh University in the late 18th century.

The quotation is from the 1801 collection of his lectures:

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that time on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world's great civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;

from spiritual faith to great courage;

from courage to liberty;

from liberty to abundance;

from abundance to selfishness;

from selfishness to complacency;

from complacency to apathy;

from apathy to dependence;

from dependency back again into bondage."

Dying ... Some might argue that America is already dead with a myriad of different dates and times while other stare at the old TV or facebook + other social networks and in blissful ignorance.

OTHERS= majority
 Quoting: <<exploitive_deleted

I think that the reason that the majority would rather watch TV, or browse FaceBook or other social networks, is because they're scared.

I told a former girlfriend about many of the things that I know about what has happened, and what may happen in the near future, and she told me "STOP!" Then she said she was scared and didn't hear it. She said she would rather be like an ostrich with her head in the sand than to face the reality of anything I was telling her. She said that she knew that I AM right, and that was scaring her.

I think this "majority" that you're talking about is like a deer in the middle of the road at night when it sees the headlights of a car coming at it. It'll get SO scared, it'll just freeze and stand there, until the car crashes into it.

I agree!!!
BUT
WHY?
Is this flat out proof that the 'human' would rather
curl up and die before exercising their own free will to survive, under ANY circumstances.?

My uncle is a crackhead
I hate tomatoes
I never "shin any pit"
...... and I've been thinking..

I ask family, co-workers, friends, " what do you know about the constitution"?
Never do I get anymore than, "freedom of speech", "I plead the 5th", or "right to bare arms", wow...
It amazes me how nobody I talk to (aside from on here) know even one thing about the current status of 'our' constitutional rights.

NOBODY CARES!?!?!

At first thats what I thought, but now I realize, the constitution (to sheeple) is equivalent to moses and the 10 commandments, HISTORY
.... or at least not applicable, 'directly' to them because the changes (rights taken away) are so subtle..

...from having the right to choose a "leader", say what's on your mind, refuse home, entry , and the right to bear arms (the american dream), to being censored, fined, policed, profiled, followed, 'mined' tracked, ect. ect. and inslaved (financially), all in the name of the NEW WORLD ORDER aka America
rant

It's not just America. I think there's something wrong with humanity in general. There's an aggressive, intolerant under current flooding throughout society.

We aren't educating our future generations properly and they see celebrity as the only goal in life.

I'd like to hear the thoughts from people how they see their country in 100 years time.

Re: Is America Dying??
Sometimes I really do think a Red State/Blue State split - if it can be done peacefully - would be best for everyone. Yeah, I know it would be so much more messy than that (even if peaceful). You'd have places like Austin, a "Blue State" city in the middle of a sea of Red - what do you do about them? Likewise, you have the very Red Upstate New York getting caught in a Blue land. Those are just two examples.

There are two major and very different ideologies about what American means, what it should be. People who have two entirely different views on reality to the point where they can never come to common ground anymore. I think the media and division-based politics (the kind that I see as starting with Lee Atwater's run campaign for Bush I, but has often been taken up by both sides since), has been a big cause of increasing these divisions.

There were always big ideological divisions but the two sides weren't as far apart in the past and on the big issues generally could find common cause. Once the Soviet Bloc fell, I think not having that clear external enemy also caused the sides to fracture and see each other as enemies more and more.

I like to joke and call the two new split countries Blutopia and Redistan (yeah, I tend favor the Blue ideologies, hence the more positive name for that one), but really it's no joking matter. Something is going to eventually have to give between the two very different world views, and I just hope it can be done in a sensible and sane way, and not a messy and destructive way. But really, how likely is something like that to happen sanely and sensibly these days?

bondage

Try doing anything with out government permission.

Is there anything government does not tax?

Is there anything on which government does not currently have two or more contrary regulations such that you are a criminal just by nature of being?

Can the government steal all you have without due process?

Can the government kill you without due process?

We are in bondage.

^^^^ This.

You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.

Right now, tbh there's a whole lot of eggs being broken all over the world.

Somebody is cooking up one serious motherfucking change omelette dig?

Could be great... could be the worst omelette ever made.
That depends on us, we need to accept that a massive shift in the system is taking place and get together and decide... just what kind of omelette we want for breakfast on the first morning of a new world.

I'm hungry now...

OP: Thoughts? Yeah. Most Americans also believe 'separation of church and state' was established in the Constitution.

Few realize it came from a letter that Jefferson wrote many years later.

Ironically, he closed that letter in prayer. If the phrase 'separation of church and state' were applied to that letter the way it is applied today, the entire letter would have been invalidated!
