The Orbit of Mars - Did It Become So Erratic that it hit the Earth Twice
Butt Ugly Toad stated on another thread Earthquakes that the

Orbit of Mars became so excentric that it hit earth

(2) times 700 Million years ago.

On Universetoday.com it states that as recent as

1.35 Million years ago Mars had an almost circular

orbit.

Now it has an eccentric eliptical orbit.

I do not believe that the orbit went from eccentric

to circular then back to eccentric.

It is difficult to prove what happened Millions of

years ago.

But logic tells me that such an event is not

possible.

Re: The Orbit of Mars - Did It Become So Erratic that it hit the Earth Twice
The orbit of Mars is outside the orbit of earth.

The orbit has become eccentric due to the

gravitational pull of Jupiter and Saturn.

It would have been impossible for Mars to collide with

earth since earth's gravity has negligible influence

on Mars in comparison to Jupiter and Saturn.
