Anonymous Coward User ID: 1944420 United States 10/07/2011 09:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I saw it last evening this time, it is about 30 degree up on west sky, the brightest star, it blinks red, blue/green and yellow few times per second. I was going to call my friend out to check it out, but she is doing a test online. So I didn't. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1182561 Two hours later I went out check it again. the star disappeared. I thought to check it tonight. Now, it is in the same position, flushing/blinking and it is the brightest one in the whole sky. I am in S IL, wonder what star is it? Why is blinking like that? I am going to check it every hour, why is it disappeared last night? Anyone has a clue? Maybe the blinking is not weather related? Maybe it was not a star? I am sober no matter how stoned when looking for truth. I know the exact star in the western sky your talking about, it starts early and settles on the horizon quickly. Multi colored sometimes flashing different colors brilliantly to the plain eye. |

Blinking your eyes at the same rate it does cancels the effect. /heh. |

It disappears because the earth revolves and it sets, being parked in the same place every night. Here where i live we have one in the NORTH east every night, stays in roughly the same place all the time. at easy height from the horizon to be seen clearly. |

It's not Jupiter because it's not as bright and planets don't tend to flash/blink. There's nothing inherently weird about it though, probably just a very active star. Looks like the aliens are having a disco. :-) “Saying one government is better than another government because one only killed 10 million, as opposed to 100 million is absolute insanity.” - Shingen. I forget what they are called. where the light is flashed so rapidly it makes people's movements look jerky etc. On the tip of my tongue. |
