It is a matter of mind not mind over matter. 2. What works very well for one person does not work at all for another. Example. The 'rope' method does not work at all for me. I have to just acknowledge what I am doing, then drift off toward sleep. Retain enough wakeful consciousness that when I hit a hypnagogia state I bring my entire wakeful consciousness into it. When I start seeing the flashes and imagery I must not take any more than fleeting note of it. Otherwise it is ruined. Once in full hypnagogia, the vibrations start. Then I know Im well on my way. It must be coxed and coerced. Not forced. This might work for you, it might not. You have to experiment and figure it out for yourself. I get out so much I almost dont really care if I do or not any more lol. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1503842 United States 10/08/2011 03:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ive been really practicing astral projection (AP), and thus far, have had no consious luck. Perhaps I accidently did it, but I have no recollection. I've studied and attempted the anchor, rope, and the rocking method, but Im not quite there yet. Would someone please give me more insight, and specifications? Like does being stoned help, or make it harder? Will cigerettes make it impossible? (obvious they won't help) Or is it just trail and error, because Ive felt only inches away from it. I know it is a lot of practice and knowledge that will help, thats why I created this post. :) ps. if you dont believe and you quickly try to troll, ill simply ignore you, and youll waste youre time. Thanks GLP AP's! Quoting: Indi Intro Drugs and stimulants change your perceptions and your likelihood of projection. If you want a experience that you can be sure is 100% without a doubt proof that you had a obe do not take drugs, you will only change your perceptions of what you experience and it may seem dreamlike because you'll be seeing things falsely. Cigarettes stimulate the mind and body and also leave a after-feeling in the lungs that can bring body awareness to your breathing. I high recommend you do not eat or smoke prior to making attempts. Having a full stomach makes digestion a priority for your body and can leave you feeling weighted or concentrating on your body. At the same time you should also not be hungry so your stomach is burning or growling, so eating 2-4 hours prior to an attempt, or just having a small meal is recommended. Drinking water, non-caffeine or alcoholic drinks, are fine to keep the body and throat moist enough that they won't bring your body awareness back to them. Emptying your bladder prior to any attempts is a good idea. Food and drink amounts can be changed a bit to bring just enough discomfort to the body to prevent you from falling asleep, however, making your attempts while sitting up or sitting in a straight backed chair with no headrest would have the same effect. If you lay down to attempt to AP then try sitting up, or laying down in a place you normally do not sleep, such as on the couch or on the floor. The way you talk about recollection tells me you know about the body-mind split which means that you can have a OBE and not remember it because the memories did not transfer correctly. What you may not know is that rolling over and falling asleep after an attempt is a sure way to not remember your attempt. Do you ever feel exhausted and lose all OBE symptoms? If so then a part of you may already be out of body and it is important to keep a relaxed state for as long as you can to give your other conscious self time to get back in body and transfer it's memories. Keep your first explorations out of body VERY short. Sit up out of body if you can, look around then shout out "I astral projected!", and dive back into your body (or think about it). This will help you remember your early attempts. As you become better at it and learn to remember your attempts then you will be able to stay out longer and longer while remembering them. Start with baby steps. Always use affirmations about what your intentions are, and in the present tense. "I am going to AP, keep it short, and remember it completely." Or "I easily AP", "I relax quickly and easily", "I dismiss wild thoughts quickly". Whatever helps you the most at the time. Repeat these in your mind over and over again as many times as needed to make them a part of your subconscious. Never set yourself a time limit. Such as "I am going to try this for an hour today, I have things to do", you need to not feel rushed and think of only your relaxing and forgetting your body 100% while keeping your mind completely free of thoughts except for any technique you may be using. Also do not tell yourself you are going to attempt to have an OBE this month or this year. As more time passes you will subconsciously think about the limits you set and you will find it more difficult to relax as the date approaches. Sometimes the best technique's are the ones you make up yourself, for example if you are afraid of falling then imagine yourself falling through your bed and then through the floor deeper and deeper. If you are afraid of heights you can imagine yourself floating or climbing out of your body and then looking down from hundreds or thousands of feet (use good maps to see what it looks like above your house). If you roll over a lot in bed then perhaps memorizing the feeling of rolling over physically and then replaying that feeling in your mind will help. Memorize the feeling of getting up from your AP attempt location and walking around the house, memorizing every detail of what you see and feel. Or go outside and take a walk around the neighborhood. Then when making your attempt you can recall the details as you get up and walk around mentally, stopping occasionally to look at a object in detail. To keep your mind from becoming bored or uninterested you can change the technique every 5 minutes or whatever feels right. This can help drill it into your subconscious that you want to go somewhere instead of just laying there imagining. Don't give up, it is all about trial and error. Unfortunately because you do not remember your AP's when the memories do not transfer you can not learn from your mistakes as easily. Remember this is like learning a new language, if you do not practice and make attempts then you will forget what progress you have made and you will feel demotivated. Keep at it, stay positive, don't bore your mind so keep it fresh, and do not do drugs, at least for your first successful AP's. Once you learn you can experiment if you really want to, though I do not recommend it because it will prevent you from seeing the truth, especially in higher planes. Books: I highly recommend a book called "astral dynamics", [link to www.astraldynamics.com] I do not know if there is a German translation of it or not. You can download the OLD version of the ebook from 2001 for free from that website. I find the new version much easier to read with much more and better information. If you want to read more about possibilities of what you can do (not alot of information on actually doing it, as he is a natural projector, although he does give techniques and information) I highly recommend Robert Monroe's book's, [link to www.monroeinstitute.org] And [link to www.monroeinstitute.org] You can find some of these in German I believe. If you have any questions or comments let me know. Or if you need me to explain anything above in easier English. |

Quoting: Indi Intro I have a lot to say on the subject so I decided to make another post lol. If you have trouble relaxing your mind or body you can nap a 4 hours and then get up and walk around a bit, do not drink any coffee or other stimulant, and once you know you are awake you can sit up in bed or lay down if you can fight off falling asleep, and use your natural relaxed state to project. I have done this on weekends when I do not mind the interruption in my sleep, and it made it very easy to relax both body and mind. I get up and walk around, have some water, empty my bladder, make sure I am not sleepy enough to fall asleep immediately, and sit up in bed. I also make sure to be a little uncomfortable so it is more difficult to accidentally fall asleep, so I balance my head on my neck with no support, jerking awake if my head falls in any direction. You can try this after 8 full hours of sleep too if you can't just nap 4 hours. If you have trouble relaxing but do not want to do the above you can spend a long time relaxing each part of your body individually by tensing a muscle for 3-5 seconds and then relaxing. I start with my feet and my individual toes and work my way up to my ankles, thighs, hips, butt, abs, chest, lungs (holding my breath then exhaling as much as I can, then breathing normally), neck, fingers, hands, forearms, biceps, my entire face (people forget this!), jaw, throat, brow, even scalp. After I have done all individual parts I then tense EVERY muscle I just went through at the same time for 3-5 seconds and then release. Usually by the time I have taking the time to do all of that I find it much easier to relax and forget my body entirely. If you find yourself thinking about a part of your body for any reason during an attempt you can do the above to that body part, even your tongue, and it does help. If you need advice on relaxing anything I may have forgotten I can probably give it. Side note: Thinking about and reading about AP/OBE's trains your subconscious mind into accepting the reality of you leaving consciously, so keep up the pressure on it, and don't let it forget who is boss! Ok I think that is all I can think of for now, I will check this thread off and on for at least a few days. Good luck and don't give up :) |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1516837 Moldova 10/08/2011 04:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OBEs are hard to attain because once you're there it seems like you're in the same physical body, but it feels lighter, but still a body. Imagining is not OBE just like imagining is not real life. The best method is to develop a curious character and OBEs will come easier, think about life and death more often, about our existence. Techniques are highly logical and precise stuff and with those the mind gets too concentrated and afraid, too nervous. If so forget about them, just keep in mind that you want to exit the body and think why do you want it. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2883141 Is it happens unintentionally ? I mean your soul leaves the body without you think on it and you later get control ? or you do it by yourself ? This is when a "technique" is used. Your trying to trick and train your mind into letting you leave your body consciously. We all leave our bodies every night when we sleep. All 3 energy bodies (some people say more) float between a few centimeters, inches, or feet out of the physical body and any energy bodies below it vibrationally. So your goal is to convince your mind that it is a good idea to let you do this while fully conscious. You can also use techniques that involve you letting yourself fall asleep but waking up out of body but that is another matter entirely. Some people find it easier to do, but nothing convinces you that OBE's are real and not a dream than leaving your body while fully conscious. I personally go into the vibrational state very quickly naturally, I never had any problems reaching it until I tried to make things over complicated in my mind and I had to re-learn to relax enough to get into that state. The hard part is over for you, all you need to do now is float, roll, climb, or stand up out of your body while keeping your mind free of non-technique related thoughts. Some people do not need techniques to have an OBE at all, they just let themselves float out, they are lucky people. For the rest of us we need to concentrate 100% on feeling so strongly that we are leaving our body that we do. Completely ignore your body and the vibrations, do not be afraid of them and do not let yourself become excited and start thinking about other things. Some people control the vibrations and increase their speed until they are vibrated out of their body naturally. The vibrations are energy conflicts in your energy (astral) body because it is not natural for us to remain awake while leaving our body, so it is a sign that you are beginning to separate and the rest needs to be easy in your mind. When we leave our body while asleep we do not feel vibrations because there are no conflicts in energy or subconscious. When you become better and better at this, and your energy body improves and it is easier for you to form the body many people feel the vibrations diminish and can never again feel them as strongly as they once could, so do not use the vibrations as a gauge to your success in the future, but for now you can use is as encouragement. Personally I no longer feel the vibrations at all because I do not have anymore major energy conflicts, this confused me and made me think that I was forgetting how to AP and it completely ruined my ability to have one at all for awhile, until I realized it was just in my mind that I was doing something wrong. If you feel VERY strong and uncomfortable vibrations in just one part of your body you may want to consider doing "energy work" which sounds very new-age but it is just a more advanced way of learning to control your energy body. Terms like "chakras" and "energy work" put me off doing it for awhile because I do not buy into most new-age things without evidence. Anyway I am not an expert at all, but these are just some of the things I have learned. If anyone has any corrections please make them. |
