Occupy Wall Street arrests in Iowa; also Occupy Omaha Protests Planned
DES MOINES -- About three dozen protesters who are part of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement were arrested for trespassing and taken to the Polk County Jail late Sunday after they refused to leave a park west of the Iowa Capitol when it closed at 11 p.m.

Several people were dragged on the ground or carried away in handcuffs by state troopers, after they linked arms and huddled together in an effort to avoid arrest.

Anti-Wall Street protesters are planning to march in downtown Omaha.

About 50 members of Occupy Omaha met Sunday afternoon to discuss the march, scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday. The group is planning to march from the City-County Building, 1819 Farnam St., to the Federal Reserve Bank at 2201 Farnam St. They might also venture farther downtown, into the Old Market, and pass several major bank branches along the way.

So, it's spreading to the midwest now.

Good point AC.

Seems like Iowa's not going to put up with any "occupation."

We shall see what happens in Omaha, even though Nebraska is not really hurting from a recession.

Desmoines, Iowa Oct 9, 2011

The first encounter with Police at OccupyDSM. Peaceful protesters being arrested for being in a park "after hours", even though no hours of "operation" are publicly posted ANYWHERE on the premises.
Juvenile (14yrs old) arrested as well..

The economy has certainly impacted Omaha as there are many people in Omaha that have lost their job and have been on the job hunt for 12 months or more.
