That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Where does "the basics" come from? The government only has money because we work and give it to them in the form of taxes. If we give them all of our money and they in turn give us "the basics", why wouldn't we just buy our own "basics" with our own money? Are you too stupid to buy your own "basics"? Do you instead want to give the nanny your money so they can buy your "basics"?

I grew up DIRT poor, worked my ass off in school for good grades, was on my own at age 16 and graduated high school (knew I could not afford college) but got a job and continued to work my ass off. Now, I own a business and I do quite well because I was GIVEN the only thing I needed and it's called OPPORTUNITY. That's ALL you have a right to you spoiled stupid people.

If you don't have the will to get up and work your hardest everyday then blame your parents for not raising you right, it's not the responsibility of the government (my tax dollars) to pay for your "basics"
