Ah, now the truth comes out . . . a true, smug, self-serving, entitled Republican.

Just more proof of how foolish it is to align oneself with ANY political party mindset.

texgirl, you're a haughty person with no compassion for the adversities of others. I've known so many people like you and I loathe each and every one of them. You're 45 with the hateful, self-absorbed mentality of someone 30 years older and no, you have no wisdom whatsoever . . . just a cold, discompassionate and terribly misguided way of thinking. I believe people with no compassion will, in some way or another, eventually be taught serious lessons due to their insensivity and arrogance, and all that smirky smugness they hide behind will be of no value.

You lack empathy and can not comprehend other peoples situations. Your way of thinking is antiquated and irrelevant to the current situation. I don't believe I am going to respond to any more of your posts because I will not keep traveling around in your circular reasoning. The world is fucked. Funny, that's exactly what the OWS people ARE DOING. Yet, they are painted with a broad brush as commies and socialists. Not to mention lazy, jobless bums. This is what happens to people who try to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I don't agree with everything the OWS stands for, hell, I don't agree with hardly any of it come to think about it. But they ARE doing something and just look at how they are viewed. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Yeah, there isn't a one sized fits all answer. Yet, many of the people on here are trying to advocate that what worked for them 30 YEARS AGO is going to work now. These same people lump all people struggling into the loser/bum bin. We do all have to find our own answers. Working harder is not the ONLY answer. Working 3 minimum wage jobs isn't the ONLY answer. The street goes both ways.

No amount of charitable donations is an excuse for close-mindedness.... I pride myself in trying to relate to people and trying to place myself in their shoes so I can hopefully understand a different perspective, and I am finding it hard to digest all these self-serving opinions with little to no regard for the opinions of other elements of the population.... The same individuals also seem to be quite fond of stereotypes and generalizations... Asking others who they voted for so they can lump them into these stereotypes.... Implying all college aged kids are lazy and unwilling to face hardships, etc...

We are fucked. I don't agree with some of there ideas, but at least they are trying.

My whole point of the first post was to introduce some logic into some of these people posting this "Get a job" crap and "Don't borrow money" crap.

This website and some members are on a mission to make everyone who doesn't have a job or is in debt look like a bum.

That is complete bullshit.

The people protesting come from all different walks of life and have all different views on how to fix this shit.

But the focus has been on only a few trying to discredit the whole thing.

You say they need to shut up and take it in the ass. Because if they don't we might see martial law or something like that, and like I said at least they are trying and not scared.

Martial law is only scary when you have much to lose and are scared to fight back. Once again the loudest people against this movement have A LOT TO LOSE--MONEY WISE.

I laugh because the only thing you people can attack on the first post in that fact that you can get a car cheaper than $18,000.

Ok people you win. Now the math says you might have shit paid off and out of debt when you are 79 instead of 80 something.

I already explain what I mean't by Piece of shit. Cars are not made to last anymore. They make them fail and have problems on purpose so you have to get a new one or buy parts. They make them so you can't work on them period!!!
I doubt any car made today will last 30 years. So that means you must budget this in and if you kept a car 15 years, your value of that car is almost nothing.

The point of the thread was to show that these kids and most folks don't have a chance.

If you made your money, good for you, but if you had to try now you would be screwed. Be thankful and quit talking shit.

You all are posting negative shit like
"Get a Job"
"Live in Your means" etc

To "live in your means" is an old expression. It would mean never going into debt and only buying what you can afford. I already showed you this was almost impossible. You borrow you are owned. You don't borrow you are also a slave and owned.

If you don't agree then prove how someone gets ahead.
Show why these kids are bums.
Give an example in detail on how to get around the math and become great like you. How to take on NO DEBT, NEVER HAVE PROBLEMS IN LIFE, ALWAYS KEEP A JOB, ETC.

And I am not talking about the B.S. walked in snow uphill to school shit.
 Quoting: BigNutChuck

Dont go to college

get a job. Get a cheap apartment. with roommates if need be. save up a thousand dollars and get a used car.

there. No debt

you will always have problems in life. Dont fool yourself

No one has ever been guarenteed that their job will last. Do the best you can and prove that you are a valuable asset. They'll keep you as long as they can and put a good word out for you at future jobs

You allow yourself to be a slave to materialism. The things you own end up owning you. Break that mentality. You think freedom is something that can be given or taken away. It's not. Freedom is about how you interact with what you have. If you have to have more you will always be a slave
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1733180
What do you think an apartment is retard? That is a contractual act of money lending. Having a rent payment fall through will send you spiralling into debt. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO BORROW FUCKTARDS
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3427039

Ok. So instead of using that 1000 dollars you saved to buy a car, get a van instead and live in it. A home on wheels that you dont owe anyone for. you can go wherever gas will get you. can't get more free than that

You wouldn't do that though would you? Dont nobody want to choose between having a bed and a sweet entertainment center

Re: Why don't you do the math before you tell these kids to not borrow money-- or get a job!
Don't get a job, get 2 and have your spouse get 1 on the side. I have a day job with a 2 hour commute each way. When I get home, I start my other job on the side. I support myself, my wife and e children. My wife is a stay at home mother as we did the math, her working a regular full time job would not cover the day care and someone else is raising our kids. So when the kids go to school, she cleans houses to pay for the gas for my 4 hours of driving each day. She enjoys aerobics so she got her certification to teach. Now she gets paid to stay in shape and bring in additional money.

We go camping for a vacation and the kids love it! alot cheaper than staying in a hotel and the kids actually learn something

There are ways to cut back and save. I have about 1000.00 in brakes, rotors and front end alignment that needed to be done to my minivan with 135k miles on it. I did not have to charge it on visa because we are working our ass off and have the money to do it. I also am not going to run out and buy a new car because this one looks great and it is a honda...which means I can drive it for another 135k miles if I want to.

Think out of the box and work as a team and you can do this.

The next phase is to get even better jobs to work smart...not hard.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2127318

supposed to be 3 children...not e children. "E Children"...sounds like a new internet site for people who do not want to sacrifice for real children and will go to an internet site, pay $30 per month and have virtual kids. I can put it on facebook and make millions in advertising dollars
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2127318

It sounds like you have a budget and run numbers. What is your monthly grocery bill and how many does it feed? Could you do it on less, if you were a single person? I am single and don't spent anywhere near $400 a month on food.

I don't eat out and bought a $40 5 cft freezer that I put my chicken breasts in when I find them for under $2 a lb. I have 1400 square feet in Central California and in heat of the summer, my electricity never ran over $60. (a trailer, to boot) I open all my windows when the temperature drops below 60 at night and close them up when I get up and it might get to 80 inside by 4:00...then I sweat a little. It's worth it! I have work clothes, I wear my pants all week, my shirts once. I have home clothes...I'll wear 3-4 days. I don't go to the movies but once a year for something like Harry Potter or Avitar, where I know the sound or video is too great a difference...Netflix streaming, only, cable is $18 basic.

I had mega student loans (went to a private university) and lived in a studio apt in the slums of SF. It took me 6 years of living off of the air I breathed to get them paid off. After that, I sold my car and moved to Europe for a year. I lived there on $400 a month, then I came back and got my teaching credential, no loans but worked half time at a bank and I got a fellowship with the college as an adjunct teacher. Then I got into the house fixer-upper thing because starting teacher saleries are a joke....fixed up 5 houses in 25 years. I always had rommies, so it paid part of the mortgage (two of my former roomies now make 3x what I make as a teacher after 25 years)...and if you've read my posts...all of that is now gone, ty Barney Franks and his queen ass (I can say that since I'm gay) twink boyfriend at Fannie Mae...so living like I did back in my early 20's, again. I told myself I could do it, so I am doing it, once again. Having no family helps but it still is doable. I could have a wife and two kids live here with me, still at $560 a month.

I live on about $1300 a month total, any extra of that going into silver. The rest is going in a 403b. Since I'm over 50, I can put more in. It's in mining/precious metal fund, TiPs and Balanced funds....I know I'm going to loose a third of it, depending what happens...just not happy about it but I can't do it any other way. So...middle class income, since I'm single...and I'm sucking it up and relying on this website for education and entertainment. Those OWS babies need to stop whinning! The Dream is dead. AND if they educate themselves, it's a good thing, too. We were WAY too high on the hog. I don't want a McMansion. Been there, done that. Since I walked away, no debt, no big house to clean or yard to manicure. I feel like I am on vacation!

Oh, I'm going to sell my veggies out of my garden next year to friends. Veggies are not mowing a lawn. If I do something and it's productive, I love doing it. I've posted pictures all summer and they all want them. No chemical fertilizer or insecticides...only by word of mouth, though. Not getting caught up in that Gov. sh*t. It might let me buy a couple more ounces of silver a month.

Bringing issues into the light? What issues? The only issues they're making public are their own individual mental disorders. They have "issues" alright. They have some sick-ass Freudian need to crawl back into their mommy's womb and reconnect the umbilical - which is made all the more sicko considering most of them probably support abortion. But since that's not possible so they want to crawl into government's womb.

Directly? Certainly not... Indirectly? Yes.... It's about creating a change in consciousness.... Changing the way people think about things... This materialistic and self-serving way of living we have been groomed into, it's detrimental to the well-being of society.... It's quickly approaching a breaking point...

I assume you understand what I'm talking about when I say a "change in consciousness"... If you don't understand what it means in the context of the current subject matter, just think back on your own life and how your attitude and opinions about life have changed, from your adolescence to adulthood, and so on as you've gotten older.... Surely you can look back and see how you no longer operate with a certain framework of thinking, and how you've abandoned certain ways of thinking that you utilized in the past...

You liberals think it's going to be all good for you. Well it's not.
 Quoting: TexasGirl

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3458912

I am not self absorbed. I give more than you'll ever know
 Quoting: TexasGirl

Just because you give a lot of money doesn't mean you are a good person. Don't forget, they stopped selling indulgences a long time ago. So, do you give out of compassion, or just to brag on the internet to inflate you already massive ego?

You lack empathy and can not comprehend other peoples situations. Your way of thinking is antiquated and irrelevant to the current situation. I don't believe I am going to respond to any more of your posts because I will not keep traveling around in your circular reasoning. The world is fucked. Most everyone struggling right now will keep doing so silently, working their ass off just trying to get by while a small vocal minority makes them all look like government mooches and bums. And you will continue to buy into it because that's what Rush Limbaugh says.

DING DING DING!!! WINNNER! Yup, don't forget this thread.

Should Politicians Wear Nascar Uniforms to identify their Corporate sponsors? Thread: Should Politicans Wear Nascar Like Uniforms To Identify Their Corporate Sponsors?

What in your mind is "doing something about it"? They are already exercising their right to protest. See another legal way they could "do something"? I mean, what would you suggest, riots... terrorism? That's pretty illegal and would send the wrong message anyways.

No, I'm afraid that they are doing all that can be done right now. Getting their voices HEARD. Bringing these issues into the public light. Their voices of dissent are no longer just hidden away on conspiracy forums, they are now all over the 10 o'clock news. It's gotta start somewhere.

Even if they are whining about the wrong stuff, it'll get people thinking. This will cause some of the other struggling sheeple to wake up a bit, do some digging, and find more. The movement is just starting. Like a pebbles before an avalanche.

The thing that makes me the most sick is that they have had their rights trampled on, stolen....but they haven't articulated THAT. Aren't their any unemployed lawyers in the crowd?

Plenty of laws have been broken, but they are so clueless as NOT to know which ones!

Instead of complaining about what you don't have...how about making a list of what has been stolen from you?
