If your standards are such that you don't mind scrimping and savings and struggling every single day of your life, cutting backing, budgeting, eating ramen and tuna, living in a trailer or cramped apartment in a seedy part of town or co-existing with 3 or 4 roommates, then yeah, I guess you'll be fine and dandy and happy with your pittance of wages . . . while the fatcats in DC live it up and laugh at the sheeple over cocktails.

But for those who work hard and barely get by but WANT more and are ANGRY as hell at what's happened to America and the dream . . . then for them, this thread means something.

Most people would be better off if they didn't go to college or at least put it off for a few years to work and find out who they really are.

Living off of 10,000 dollars isn't really living. no nice car, no nice house, no nice clothes... Nothing to tell the world "look at me! look how succesful I am!". You have to work in order to eat. I have to disagree. Even if girls are broke they expect a man to have money and spend it on things like houses, private schools for the kids, and other stuff. A lot of times, making less than a certain amount ensures guys will remain without a life mate.

As for bettering oneself, you need to put away money to buy property and for other investments. In your other post you claim to put six thousand a year away in savings while using only four thousand for costs of living. You only listed a vehicle and food as an expense. What about mortgage/rent, insurance and all those other things? Just telling it like it is. Maybe in Mexico ten thousand a year is doable.

buy a diesel van

take another 1000

convert your diesel to run off of grease

take 2000 and save it for food

put 6000 into savings

On the coasts, there are people who struggle on eighty thousand per year. You could probably live like a king on that in a state like Minnesota. I am beginning to think the perspectives in this thread have more to do with location.

It DOES have a great deal to do with location, something these posters have not considered for a second when they say how easy it is for someone to live on 10K a year.

But I contend there is NO WAY that a decent, clean-cut, intelligent person could live a decent, respectable life ANYWHERE in America on that kind of money.

If a person took home $10K a year, that means they have $833 a month for ALL expenses.

Yeah, you would have to live out of you car to get along on that. Put away six thousand a year in savings under the car seat. In twenty years you could buy a house for one hundred and twenty thousand dollars if you can get one that cheap. Of course, there is more expense than just the price.
