Its just not worth the loss of one life. Get fucked pal. These drivers knew the risks going in. They loved their sport and died doing something they loved. While we're at it lets go ahead and ban sailing because people can fall in the water and drown. Ban freeway driving too because thousands of people die every day from driving to work. In fact lets ban working all together now! That will save anyone from having to travel anywhere and risk their life, it will save you from getting seriously injured at the work place too! Hey! Lets ban living at all! Living sure is dangerous business! Lets all just go kill ourselves! Yeah! Who's with me!? I'm with you AC even though I'm extremely depressed and sick right now. All these guys know very well what could happen. A sad day for motorsport, but Dan would sure want it to go on. Squonk |

Roger User ID: 3404207 United States 10/16/2011 07:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why would anyone race cars. It's just stupid. Moreover, why would ANYONE watch that shit?? Quoting: Mister Obvious /\ This has gotta be a joke... Dont ban me just because you disagree with my post buddy ... but you have to be either doing very bad joking or are mentally deranged if you dont understand why hundreds of millions of fans watch all forms of racing - and why millions of drivers and crew and family and friends are involved in all forms of professional racing. If you dont understand that, then get a brian check. |

I think his head must have hit the wall and he probably sustained a broken neck. Still too early to say though until the official report is out. Racing is dangerous and can always be deadly. 225+ mph aint no joke. |

Lime Flavoured Redux User ID: 1184841 United Kingdom 10/16/2011 07:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Racing is dangerous but what's even worse is the fact that Indy Cars don't know what the fuck they are doing. Open wheel cars should not run on 1.5 mile ovals. Quoting: Deanster Add the fact that they had 30 + cars out there, I say these bums need to be prosocuted. I think they'll be a major lawsuit over this. |

All these guys know very well what could happen. A sad day for motorsport, but Dan would sure want it to go on. well, that said there are a lot of stupid things that go in Indy racing. It's like horse races - they've bred bigger and heavier horses who are still running on champagne glass legs then they push them to their limits. And the horse's DON'T know the risks. They just die for our entertainment. Bad guidelines in the sport and dangerous breeding. Ain't like how horse races USED to be. |
Anonymous Coward 10/16/2011 07:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | FU asswipe -- They do it because it is a sport. They live on the edge. I would do it if I could. It's a rush. I drove a open wheel car at Pocono last year and was able to get up to 135 mph on the banked oval portion after coming out of the road course portion. It is the biggest rush I've ever had (better than any drug). These guys are warriors and I am extremely worried about Dan Wheldon as he went into the catch fence and it could be very bad. Quoting: Squonk It is the risk-return tradeoff. I would do it in a second if I could have. Sorry you just don't understand. It's no different than the blood sports, and a greedy, entertainment hungry crowd watching a showdown between a man and a lion... Only low IQ sheeple and drama whores like to watch this type of shit. Another life lost... the life of a new father, a husband, a son, a friend. Such senseless loss. |

[link to www.usatoday.com] Driver blog: Dan Wheldon frustrated with car in Las Vegas - Updated 1d 1h ago So far, things haven't been going very well as we've started our pursuit of the GoDaddy IndyCar Challenge this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but I'm confident in the ability of the guys at Sam Schmidt Motorsports to find the problem and get it fixed. Quoting: article- Another good thing is that we have a full day Saturday to work on the problem. Right now, all they need is time to take the car apart and check everything. I'm confident they'll find it and we'll get out there Sunday with a car that can move through the field. |

1-2-Follow nli User ID: 1716638 United States 10/16/2011 08:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh really? Guess it would be impossible to tell if it was sabotaged at this point anyway... it's probably a charred ruin. No one else died. no one else hit like he did. the car was intact for the most part i've seen pics of it along with watching it live and watching racing for most of my life. i know. had he not hit the catch fence cockpit first, he would've survived like the rest. the top of the car that protects the drivers from rollover was sheared away, which means his head/helmet came into contact with the fence. |
