I only eat there maybe twice a year. This article sort of hit home because my nephew likes to play at the Mc Donald's playground. Pretty sure having food nearby then it slowly spreads to the the playground equipment via messy kids has much to do with all the bacteria. I'd be curious what a normal outdoor park playground compared to a Mc Donald's playground would be like. JATMON User ID: 4165781 United States 10/28/2011 12:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | When will they provide wipes at the gas pump? Just saying.. Gas pump handles top list of filthy surfaces touched on the way to work If you thought filling the gas tank could only hurt your wallet, consider this: Gas pump handles are the filthiest surface commuters encounter on their way to work. At least that's what a study by Kimberly-Clark Professional found. Gas pumps tested as the worst breeding ground for bacteria and viruses in a study of six U.S. cities. And they weren't the only germy spots. The top offenders were public mailbox handles, rails on escalators and ATM buttons. Other items on the list: parking meters and kiosks, crosswalk buttons and buttons on vending machines in shopping malls. The study was performed by University of Arizona researcher Charles Gerba -- the man who found fecal matter on shopping cart handles and reported the average workplace has 400 times more bacteria than a toilet. Before you run for the disinfectant, you might want to remember the study was sponsored by a unit of Kimberly-Clark, the company that makes tissues, wipes and disinfectants. Still, the study reported in U.S.A. Today, makes you think twice about the surfaces you touch every day. "It comes down to the fact that nobody cleans the things that you're going to touch on a daily basis," Dr. Kelly Arehart, program leader of Kimberly-Clark's Healthy Workplace Project, told Reuters. The Healthy Workplace Project recommends countering the germs by washing your hands when you arrive at work and by wiping down the computer keyboard, mouse and desk. Not to try to eradicate them. My friend was sick a lot as a little kid. His mom kept him VERY clean. The doctor told her to let him go play in the dirt and quit cleaning him so much. She followed the docs directions and my friend stopped getting sick. Kids need to get dirty and share germs. It is good for their immune systems. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2325990 It would take nearly a full time staff position for the playground to keep it clean. It's McDonald's. It's affordable to nearly everyone, and she being a doctor can afford someplace more upscale that limits its access by the prices on the menu. You can't expect poor people to manage their children's eating habits and to make sure their children clean up after themselves. That's why we have social classes. To keep those with no manners from offending those with consideration for other people. McDonald's is not marketed to people in social classes who make sure either their children clean up after themselves or they clean up after their children. |
