... I calculated the orbit of the asteroid using only amateur observations of it, no professional observatory data at all. The results closely agreed with the official orbit. I took a quick glance at the ephemeris of that orbit and it showed the asteroid missing earth by about ~242,000 km if I remember right, slightly closer than the official orbit, but still a safe distance away. I'll be making a video showing the result in detail later tonight. Suffice it to say, the asteroid is not going to hit us. Quoting: Astromut check again I'll be posting the full details of the results tonight, including all the orbital elements I calculated, which is something you have failed to provide. If it's going to hit us, then post the "true" orbital elements that show it impacting the atlantic like you said it would... For extra points, also post the astrometric readings which produced those orbital elements. No worries. The majority of us don't believe him. lol Oh I know, it's clear that most posters don't; I started the calculations a while ago, before the thread was even posted as a matter of fact, as I figured it would be a good idea to independently check the official orbit prior to the encounter. Some people are starting to get worried about it a bit, thought not because of this troll.
