I've never heard of putting it directly on the scalp. I was surprised at how my hair quit shedding when I started using it like OP. I took it faithfully for 3 months, didn't mind the taste, but didn't connect my hair no longer shedding with it as I hadn't read about that till OP posted this thread.

I would make sure to get organic with the mother (the brown suspended stuff) as that part contains very healthy amino acids which apparently work wonders. It's great for old sports injuries too that like to flare up. It keeps inflammation in the body way down.
