IF you think drilling can not cause earthquakes think again. Even though fracking is also involved. It still proves that it does not take much stir things up. I live in Arkansas and the area a little north of where is live is where the drilling and fracking was taking place. The area went from having 0 quakes to more than 800 in just a 2-4 month period with the largest being a 4.7. Since then they made them stop for the most part and the quakes have pretty much stopped.

In older oil fields some wells are turned into an injection well. Water is pumped into the formation to help push the oil up to the surface when it no longer flows free under pressure. The quakes around Guy, AR where result of 2 injection wells that are no longer operated by a large gas producer. I think they sold them off to someone else. An easy way to rid themselves of the headache they were.

That's what happened in Iceland. They pumped water into the volcano and it caused quakes.

And if they hit a magma tube or chamber? If they hit a large gas pocket? If the water they allow into the hole connects with hot plates? If they knock something loose? LoL, you guys are so sure nothing will happen and yet ALL OVER THE DAMN WORLD WE'RE SEEING MAN MADE QUAKES from drilling, fracting and introduction of water into seismic and volcanic areas.

Idgits, I'm not up on how this could affect the U.S. You seem very concerned. What could happen?! Volcanoes erupting over there won't be a problem over here...right?

When the March tsunami hit...it impacted California, causing multi millions of dollars worth of damage. It also hit Oregon and Washington. However, I'm not just concerned for where I live. What about Japan? What about the Pacific Islands? And who knows how many other countless areas lives could be lost.
