HANGFIRE User ID: 4628635 ![]() 11/05/2011 12:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Has anybody else here been diagnosed with Schizotypal Personality Disorder? Quoting: CicadaMoon 2680352 I believe that it is essentially a bullsh*t diagnosis, given to people whom threaten their narrow little world view & whom challenge them. While there is some validity to the social retardedness & isolation often present in those labeled as such, there is no dysfunction in being quirky. Symptoms of Schizotypal Personality Disorder The following specific diagnostic criteria are reproduced verbatim (except for codings and page references) from the DSM-IV, the immediate predessor of the current DSM-IV TR (where ‘IV TR’ indicates fourth edition, text revision). Diagnostic Criteria for Schizotypal Personality Disorder A. A pervasive pattern of social and interpersonal deficits marked by acute discomfort with, and reduced capacity for, close relationships as well as by cognitive or perceptual distortions and eccentricities of behavior, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following: ideas of reference (excluding delusions of reference) odd beliefs or magical thinking that influences behavior and is inconsistent with subcultural norms (e.g., superstitiousness, belief in clairvoyance, telepathy, or “sixth sense”; in children and adolescents, bizarre fantasies or preoccupations) unusual perceptual experiences, including bodily illusions odd thinking and speech (e.g., vague, circumstantial, metaphorical, overelaborate, or stereotyped) suspiciousness or paranoid ideation inappropriate or constricted affect behavior or appearance that is odd, eccentric, or peculiar lack of close friends or confidants other than first-degree relatives excessive social anxiety that does not diminish with familiarity and tends to be associated with paranoid fears rather than negative judgments about self There is no dysfunction unless the person presenting these symptoms says they are causing enough discomfort to them that they seek treatment. |

I had a year of therapy, it helps to talk about it. As to the humans, I can be of little help in that regard. I think some of us are just meant to be loners, something to do with, loving yourself for real. Maybe people are like pillars, they hold us up, then the universe takes them away, once they are all gone you fly or flop imho of course. ![]() |

I actually did some soul retrieval work with a shaman that was healing for me. |

I would never ever get a cell phone *shudders at the thought* I rather like my answering machine. I do have one human friend that i get along with. We tolerate each other well even though she isn't quirky like me. I would like to do some volunteer work (insectarium or botanical gardens, since i'd rather hang with plants & buggies) or try out a crafting workshop, but i'm not quite there yet... |

But then, I must add that the treatment I am actualy undergoing is in part responsible for the schizoid personality as the medication has side effect. The meds make me live like I'm in some kind of bubble, so keep in mind that meds have their lot of responsabilities too. |
