MartianPrincess User ID: 1347453 United States 11/07/2011 06:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As next week approaches two events are standing out, one is the arrival mid week of what has been incorrectly described as an asteroid. It is in fact an intelligently controlled craft, and it remains to be seen how it interacts with your Earth or Moon. On Friday you have the eagerly awaited 11.11.11 bringing with it another great upsurge of energy, that will bring about a wonderful upliftment in your levels of consciousness. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2756816 "and it remains to be seen how it interacts with your Earth or Moon." Is it not your Earth or Moon too or do you have your own? Wait...what's an upliftment? Occam's Razor, morans! |

No more then 2 hours after the "flyby" next doomsday will be sheduled, excitement will make it's re-entry at glp and everybody will start feeling happy again, knowing the end is near... This rollercoaster of emotions will keep repeating itself untill the unpredicted real doom hits hard. "This rollercoaster of emotions will keep repeating itself untill the unpredicted real doom hits hard." So we need all the practice we can get. |

And you know this how? If close approach is between 7 and 11 PM then that area of the earth will be out of it's path |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1109566 United States 11/07/2011 06:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thanks for running the data OP. Interesting results. ...480 You think NASA would tell us the truth IF a big rock was calculated to hit the Earth. I sure as hell don't. Think about the mass panic. The Federal government or any agency of it would NOT warn of an impending disaster that couldn't be mitigated. And I'll tell you something else, the more I hear about this the more I think an impact is possible. To deflect .85 lunar distance even if the data were real would take very little force. The bottom line is we won;t know until the day after, and by then Paris or Montreal or some other large city along with the surrounding several hundred miles could be a memory. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OR ANY BUREAUCRACY THEREOF WILL NEVER SERVE ANY USEFUL FUNCTION TO PRESERVE HUMAN LIFE, THEY ARE IN THE BUSINESS OF ELIMINATING IT. |

Quoting: IwantToBelieve76 [link to www.nasa.gov] Ya know.... This really makes me nuts..... They can take crystal clear images of shit millions.of light years away but the only images of a 400 m wide object that is only 800k miles away looks like it is a screenshot outta a 8 bit video game from the 80's!..... Anybody know of any clear hi-res shots of this... ...or I'm calling shenanigans....ALL YOUR BASE! Oh yea... Good post OP.... Hope you're wrong! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1585083 United States 11/07/2011 06:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | <<<Which indicates that the close approach distance is 0.0000416667AU = 3904 miles at about 11pm on the 8th, which is quite about closer than 200,000 miles. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1585083 This might not make sense to some. All I am trying to say here is that it appears the JPL data is inconsistent.>>> Isn't this close enough to be captured by the Earth's gravity? Just following the trail of thought at the moment. The moon at more than 200,000 miles away from earth is captured in earth's gravity, at just the right point to maintain its regular orbit. So, what do you think? That you're clueless? |

Quoting: saros136 Good point, the Earths gravity and the moons gravity will alter any such 'linear course'. Bottom line is like I said, we won't know until it passes or it hits because we wouldn't be warned if impact was imminent and them are the facts. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1109566 United States 11/07/2011 06:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | so its 3 times as big as the space station and thats way closer,,so whats the panic space station only 380 km high which varies, asteroid 3900 ,,figures just guessin but think about it,,if its one rock it is way off. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4641099 Density and velocity my friend. The space station is not that heavy or fast and most of it would disintegrate upon re entry. This asteroid will come in in one piece. |

It would be easy to check this by finding an algorithm online. Last Edited by saros136 on 11/07/2011 06:41 PM |
