I thought the GLP telescope was up and running again? Why isn't there a GLP live feed of this event? Would have been nice.

I dont have time to search---can anyone tell me real quick if we are going to be able to see this thing from earth via naked eye?

If so- when and where can I be watching?

No, it will not be visible naked eye.

The second fly-by refers to YU55 passing the Moon. From the JPL Small-Body Database Browser:

11/8/11 at 23:28 GMT (6:28 PM EST, 3:28 PM PST) YU55 passes the Earth.

11/9/11 at 07:14 GMT (2:14 AM EST, 11:14 PM PST on 11/8) YU55 passes the Moon.

Took awhile to load, but check it out yourself:

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."

Wait, so they're only broadcasting it to members? I thought they were letting anyone watch since it was a special event. Well, in any case I doubt they'd be showing as many frames per second as I'm going to try to show tonight. My hope is that I can detect it at 64x integration, in which case you'll see 1 frame per second. Slooh is usually several minutes per frame.

Great find OP. I have just downloaded their android app, as I will be away from my 'puter, but will have my trusty phone with me so I can still watch the fly by.

If anyone else wants their app just search the market for slooh space camera.

 Quoting: shinbone

It will take a couple of days for YU55 to pass. There isn't a "second" onject behind it.
 Quoting: Just A Thought

Thank you
 Quoting: shinbone

actually there are quite a lot coming behind it, just not anywhere as close.

LOL, now playing:

Astronomer Bob Berman hosts SLOOH's live video feed of NASA's 10/09/09 Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS ) impacts of the Moon's surface in the search for water on the Moon.

I rather watch a tree growing.

It's not due till 7:30pm eastern (and even then we'll watch it for much longer than that). The countdown thingy on Slooh is just until they start their observing session; their primary scope is in the canary islands, so it gets dark there before it gets dark in the states.
