Maybe those streaking things are meteors? I read somewhere that YU55 is accompanied with a meteor shower.

They are streaking because it is tracking the asteroid. It has slow shutter speed, allowing more light in. This makes the stars appear as streaks.

For added Doom effect, simply play the music soundtrack to melancholia while squinting at the pixelated dot in the center of the screen.

I'm assuming the streaks are the brighter stars that are relatively stationary in relation to YU55. Looks as if the telescope is tracking the asteroid from right to left and taking a photo every 3 seconds...

Is YU55 the bright light in the middle..?

Seems there are other "lights" moving along with it...

Just one simple question to everyone more clever then me: IF we have amazing satellites-telescopes to see stuff far far away, why can't we see better images then this crap?

The streaks are stars due to the asteroid moving at such speed I assume.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4960977

yeah but the stars in the background arent streaking like that
 Quoting: MrOysterhead

YEAH!!! what the hell is that?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4750817

BUMP! So if the streaks are the stars what are the bright spots in the background! If the bright spots in the background are stars, what are the streaks! The only explanation... Frankie was right! Fleet incoming. "Landing formation for moonbase Alpha"

Ya, I don't trust anything, last night I watched a program about Dark flow and how our universe is picking up speed and expanding. Scientist are all scratching their heads about this saying everything they thought they understood (mathematically) could be WRONG!

So don't be to quick to leave this in the experts hands to figure out and give us explanations. lol
