I notice many GLPers are very informed with regards to natural remedies, hence posting here. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1472437 Today I happened to be with my 71 year old mother at her GPs. It was for a review of her prescription meds. Her blood pressure had risen since her last check, and the doctor suggested increasing her medication. My mother eats healthly, is an active person yet since being prescribed these various medications for the usual elderly complaints (such as high colesterol and blood pressure),has developed allergies and other unwanted side effects. She is reluctant to take any more meds since she feels she is on enough-and she is!! Does anybody know of any good natural treatments for high blood pressure? I heard maybe clove oil? but am sure there must be loads out there? Any suggestions are greatly recieved at this time since I can see her health and passion for life slowly but steadily deteriorate in front of my eyes, the longer she is taking these prescription meds. thanks, with love x x x Prescription meds are killers. Go to a patient forum sometime and read from the patients themselves what they do. I am not saying that prescription meds are killers in all cases. I won't offer any advice but I believe if people got off "meds" they will live longer and be healthier. Try earthclinic for advice. |

calin User ID: 1350324 United States 11/08/2011 05:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Cool! I am a big researcher, so this is what I have discovered - and taking or doing...... Breathe Easy: [link to www.control-your-blood-pressure.com] If my BP rises, I do a few minutes of deep breathing and the BP diminishes. Nitric Oxide (breathing from nose deeply) helps to open your blood vessels causing your BP to decrease. I highly recommend this. Other supplements, but not the only ones..... Hawthorne - research supports this! Cocoa supplements Omega 3 CoQ10 I looked at apple cider vinegar, but there is no supporting evidence of it. It is bad on your teeth as well. I am also starting sound therapy to maintain a level BP as I no longer take RX drugs! I am excited about this one!!! [link to www.universalsoundtherapy.com] Hope this helps! Your mother is not on here looking for answers, you are. There are numerous studies showing a direct relation to our sodium intake and hypertension. That is a long term cause-effect. Salt has been added to all processed foods and canned foods. All that needs to be avoided/eliminated. This means switching to dried beans instead of the canned beans, ect. Just having more vegetables less meat and fat helped me reverse HBP, as well as throwing the salt shaker away. There is a crash dietary cure for HBP & diabetes that involved a rice diet for 3 days. Another uses melons. N othing but rice or melon. Melon may not be advised for the diabetic. Saw those diets in a video and can't confirm with a link, you may check around. I just changed my diet to more plant based and eliminated the salt. Took about 2 to 4 weeks and all normalized.) |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 5068055 United States 11/10/2011 09:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Apple Cider Vinegar is supposed to be a good and it also gives you more energy, which it sounds like she could use. Make sure to get the one with "the Mother' in it. Tablespoon 2X per day is what I hear. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1013803 Yeah, wean off the meds, Start with 2 to 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water twice a day. You'll see dramatic improvement in a month. Use Heinz vinegar, for some reason Bragg's doesn't work as well, even though it tastes better. Add an equal amount of honey to the vinegar before adding water to make it tasty and add the health benefits of honey. Kelp based Iodine pills couldn't hurt either. After the pressure is brought down, just have a glass with breakfast. As far as the comment about having the "Mother" in it - I actually have found the opposite. The Heinz vinegar in the glass bottle is the very best and I've tried them all. Good Luck and all the best to you, Op. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 5071744 United States 11/10/2011 09:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here is a clue, 1 out of 7 people have high BP, the other 6 probably have never had it tested. Everyone's BP is different, the Pharma companies run a moving average on a group of peoples BP and tell us that's what its supposed to be. Most people have some high BP and live long lives and die of old age. The fact is if your BP is outside the moving average that big pharma says, then they make a hell of a lot of cash selling you the "treatment". They say high BP is a risk factor for heart disease/attacks? What exactly is a risk factor anyway? You know what it is? It means they don't have any definitive proof having high BP does anything at all so they cant say "it causes it". So they make up the term "risk factor", because it makes them loads of cash without having to prove anything. Its up to you, believe big pharma or not. But generally anywhere you find billions in profits it tends to be bullshit. |

I did and went from the threat of BP medication to a fantastic bp of 110/70 by changing my diet. My doctor was ecstatic. Anonymous Coward User ID: 75792649 United States 11/03/2017 03:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have been trying many natural things to normalize my blood pressure ACV garlic vitamin d3 and K2 coconut oil cayenne pepper so far the thing that helped most was adjusting the Potassium / Sodium ratio. Research shows that a diet that is low in potassium and high in sodium is associated with an increased risk for high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, stroke, and early death. I eat a lot of raw produce and use use sea salt. I have reduced it, but that didnt seem to help. So... I am slowly increasing my potassium intake - more potassium rich foods and a few shakes of Morton's salt substitute (potassium chloride). Immediately I noticed my thinking was clearer - recall was instant instead of waiting for my brain to remember someones name. And my blood pressure is back in the normal range - even on the low end (of normal) in the middle of the night if I wake up to check it. Low potassium (or imbalance of potassium / sodium) causes or contributes to brain fog heart palpitations muscle cramps high blood pressure fatigue dizziness under eye bags I have read several different ratios, 4 potassium to 1 sodium or double the potassium to the sodium If you have any of the above symptoms, gradually adjust the levels and see what works for you. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 75421402 United States 11/04/2017 02:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Easy, Cut down on salt, caffeine, and drink lots of water. Also eat lots of potassium so your body doesn't try to hold on to salt. Yes potassium deficiency causes you to retain salt and yes 90% of people in the west are deficient. Your doctor won't tell you this. I'm 35 years old and my blood pressure is 95/58 with a resting pulse rate of 55. INB4 some fat fuck who thinks he's a healthy weight comes in and tells me that my BP and pulse are too low. An added bonus of doing these simple things are. Increased energy, I can run circles around anyone.. Anyone. Except some steroid filled elite athlete or some shit. I just fucking till an entire lot by hand with a hoe. The ground is rock solid were talking the California central Valley here. I literally have the energy of a teenager. Probably even more. |
