Fed EAS REPLACES local control/broadcast of any/all EBS messages??? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 4842501 United States 11/09/2011 08:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | From the thread below, it appears that local control of Emergency Broadcasting is now non-existent and the Fed control any and all Emergency Broadcasts. Also, somewhere in one of the threads, it mentioned that transmitter and transceiver were swapped which indicates (?) a two-way transmission of info to/from you home??? This is big news that is being covered up!! IF this is true, this is wrong, so wrong. Thread: Why is the national Emergency Alert System test on Nov 9 NOT ending with an EAT (Emergency Action Termination)?? Why is the national Emergency Alert System test on Nov 9 NOT ending with an EAT (Emergency Action Termination)?? ... Quoting: Laura Bow Also, I know you said you were a "radio" guy, can you post exactly what type of job you do? The title of the position? Well, let me answer your last question first: I am what was once known as a DJ. Now I have the fancy title of on-air personality...Fancy title for button-pusher and weather announcer...lol To your other question: Yes, the 'panic button' which literally enabled the local station to start an EBS alert in the event of a local criticality has been made inoperable....and turned over entirely to FEMA and the DHS. Something crossed my mind in the meeting that hasn't been answered to my satisfaction yet: If the Feds now are solely in charge of alerts...in ANY capacity...what is stopping them from NOT issuing alerts when they see fit? Literally to compartmentalize disaster info.... OOOOOOH, wow, maybe you should talk about GLP on air huh? ;) Hope it's for a good radio station lol. That point you make about the Feds being in charge of the button is right on the money. Now THEY dictate what is and is not an emergency, the local stations now no longer decide. I don't understand how they are permitted that kind of power?! And the fact that they are leaving that channel, or whatever it's called, open, means they are just temporarily ceding the power back to the stations but can send out a new message at any time. If they have the ability to "bust" in now at any point in time, why are they leaving things open and not closing it properly? There has to be a reason. Well, I'm not sure glp would consider me, but hey...stranger things have happened. (very kind of you to suggest, however) I am on-air just outside of DC. Of course, we've all been debriefed about mentioning any of this to anyone, but again...its not like its NOT public knowledge anyway. They just don't want us spouting off conjecture and making people actually 'think'...However, I'm not comfortable using MY voice to tell people 'DON'T PANIC'...when tshtf, ya' know? So, in short...bossman can suck it. I hold no loyalties to subversion. I will sing 'til shiny black cars pull up on my street. Very exciting! I don't like this situation even considering the most innocent intentions. Its too much power handed to the Feds...that's my point entirely....and more, of course. I can also tell you that this week and weekend DC power structure schedule has deviated wildly all week...well..thusfar anyway. Not sure what gambit they're running but it ain't status-quo.... |
