Scientists say not only will research into the threat from space be hampered, but public understanding of sometimes dramatic sky explosions will be diminished, perhaps leading to hype and fear of the unknown.

OBVIOUSLY, the US Gov does not have the resources to regulate millions of backyard astonomers... c'mon, come up with something better.

This applies to people with "REAL" credentials.

It's a PHA, they don't know if it will hit or not in close encounters at future time points. Now, why do they not stop me from publishing data on it?

Let's see, 15 years ago would have been just after the breakup of the Soviet Union. Back when we were supposed to all be 'friends'. Maybe things have changed since then? Oh wait, what's all this talk about WWIII I've been hearing about? Maybe we are not all 'friends'? Maybe we shouldn't provide potential threats with a study in re-entry trajectories they couldn't pay for if they wanted to? Think about it. HOW COME AN ASTEROID HIT COLOMBIA WITH NO WARNING?!?! And left a 300 foot crater.

How come that was buried in Western media?

YOU WOULD THINK that this would be an EXCELLENT CHANCE for scientists to study the crater and the effects. YOU WOULD THINK that this would be TOP STORY ON EVERY MAJOR NEWS SITE.

But it was not.

And before you say it never happened... here is PROOF.

What crater? The video makes no mention of a crater, just eyewitness accounts of a streak of light across the sky. Probably was a meteorite burning up in the atmosphere, that's not too uncommon. After a brief search on the internet, I could not find a single image of any crater associated with this Colombia fireball sighting.

Oh, by the way, the Inuit were wrong too and the sun rising early in greenland was not due to the sun actually being out of place in the sky nor was it due to a "pole shift"... It was an effect of abnormal atmospheric refraction known as Novya Zemlya.

MY BAD I linked to the wrong stories for the 300 foot crater. Those were the stories about the Mexico impact that left a 100 foot crater.

My mistake highlights an even bigger problem.

The Colombian media has been buzzing with eye witness accounts of the fireball, which caused a massive explosion at 3:15PM local time Sunday.

Andina.com reported that Bucaramanga Mayor Fernando Vargas confirmed that the phenomenon was a meteorite that left a crater 100 meters in diameter when it crashed into the earth in the San Joaquin municipality in Santander.

Kudos to you for finding your own error and correcting it. I was frightened and confused over your initial confusion about the Colombia and Mexico incidents. I wouldn't say the two events were unreported, as you were able to find links to them so quickly, so someone obviously is reporting them. Still no crater photos of the Colombia event, nor the Mexico event. Funny how websites claiming 100-300 foot craters were formed never actually show an image of the crater. And I found a link saying there was no crater found in the Mexico event ( [link to e-consulta.com] from the same e-consulta.com website you linked to above. So who knows who is telling the truth about the presence or lack of craters. Until I see a photo of a crater, I'm going to assume there is no crater.

We are all searching for answers, truth or just more prudent information, to what is going on in our world. Regardless of what your opinions are, its "his" truth or story, and its obviously a great discussion topic. Please, if you have "legitimate" and challenging questions for *LUCAS* please submit them in this thread, and I or another mod will ask them tonight. I do not agree with everything he has put together, but atleast he is putting something out there for all of us to think about and discuss. That is what makes GLP unique.

Have you ever seen a photo of a Giant Musky with a Duck caught in it's throat?

Well, it happened.

Yeah, but the duck is gone and impossible to photograph after the fact. The craters would still be there. Someone can take a picture of the craters any time they want, if they thought it was important enough.

What's the point of allowing websites to describe the crater in words, but censoring the images? Why not censor the whole article?

If you noticed I said that the story was not covered by WESTERN media.

If you want to fly down to Colombia and take a picture then be my guest please I would love to see it.

Either you believe it or not, it's not my job to convince you. There are enough people out there looking for truth to have to spend so much time trying to show one person.

I personally don't care if anybody believes me or not. I am not here to "convince" people, I am here for the people who already have a good idea what is happening.
