Here's where I get mine:

Brambleberry.com, soapmaking supplies

Sunflower oil

[link to www.brambleberry.com]

I buy it by the gallon. Twenty bucks a gallon and I pour it into bottles that fit in the fridge. I keep out a pint at a time in a bottle with a flip spout and just dispense it straight into my mouth, rather than using a spoon.

It's sold for soapmaking but it's definitely high quality food grade oil. Been through three gallons from them already.

Other soapmaking places have it. I am positive there are not two grades, only food grade. But, you should get it from a busy place with high turnover so to be sure it's fresh. It keeps longer than they say it does though, it's fine in the fridge as long as it takes to use it up.

No, I actually have thought sunflower oil isn't as available on the grocery store shelf as it used to be. Years ago I always bought it for cooking and salads because I loved the beautiful sunflower fields of North Dakota so much when I saw them from the train.

I have gotten it from other soapmaking places before I found this place. It seems like excellent stuff, when it's in the refrigerator it gets cloudy, I think that's a good sign that it's not over-refined.
