The 12 - 27 metre wide asteroid 2011 WP4 will make a close pass (1.5 lunar distances, 0.0038 AU), travelling at 10.84 km/second, to the Earth-Moon system on the 24th November, 2011 @ 08:13 UT ±00:42.



The Lunar Distance (LD), the distance between Earth and the Moon, equals 384,401 km, (or 0.00256 AU).

I'll admit I'm no astrology wiz, so if I don't quite understand this, excuse me.
But how can they possibly have a date and distance figured out, after just one day? How can they possibly have measured a correct path and speed in such a small timeframe?

Thanks for posting this OP. Five stars and a Pin vote from me. How could they have JUST found it in the last 24 hours. That makes absolutely no sense to me at all. Let's stay aware and watch. If anybody can find the size of this thing please post it.

That's what I thought.
They knew about YU55 for years, and yet, when it came closer they got unsure about it's trajectory, didn't they? And it's size changed as well.
So to present anything as fact about this very newly discovered one, is just puling stuff out of the ass. And most likely we won't know anything for sure after it either passes or hits.

The condition code is set at 8 on a scale from 1-9. 8 means they really dont know much about where its going yet. Im sure that will change as it gets closer but not by much.
