Looks like this 2011 WP4 will come within 1.2 and 1.5 LD from Earth. With the condition code 8 it just means there is uncertainty with the projected projection.

This wont even come between the Moon and the Earth like YU55 did let alone being under 50m while YU55 was 500m.

Spaceweather only shows larger or closer asteroids than this, it's not an exhaustive list. I don't know what their cutoffs are, but here's a much more exhaustive list of close approaches:

It's somewhere in the 15~30 meter size range (being rather generous), so I don't see how it's the "end of the world." Unfortunately since we only got 5 days of observations of it ~8 years ago, the uncertainty in the orbit is quite high. The close approach date is so loose it's plus or minus 2 days almost 3. An impact isn't in the cards though; at most it will be only slightly close to us than YU55 was. Should be interesting to see if it's caught at all during its return; if it happens to miss by the maximum distance it won't get any closer than 10 million km, so the range of possible distance is quite huge.

Smaller than a Boeing 737.
Don't think it will do much damage.
Unless it lands on Tehran's fire brigade HQ:

Have you noticed how the MPC now has the IAU logo plastered at the top of their pages? That appears to have happened shortly after my last NEO video where I ranted about the data not coming from NASA or JPL. The first part of this video [link to www.youtube.com] that was back on the 12th. Interesting they now have IAU at the top [link to www.minorplanetcenter.net]
Almost seems that someone is watching my videos....

If this asteroid poses a treat for planet Earth, you can be sure that the Knight Templar will ask assistance from the Intergalatic Counsil to blow up the sucker. So, now worries there either. They must have known about wp4 for quite a bit now, and it's just part of the "Thanksgiving" cosmic ritual.

I'll admit I'm no astrology wiz, so if I don't quite understand this, excuse me.
But how can they possibly have a date and distance figured out, after just one day? How can they possibly have measured a correct path and speed in such a small timeframe?

S astormut... can you answer this question.

Rocks just dont materialise out of thin air so where have these 'new' rocks coming from?

They all seem to have an orbit within and are solar system objects. Where did they come from if they have not been seen before this?

I hope this isnt a silly question.

Asteroid Crater Calculation 2011 WP4

Size 20 Meters (Average)
Velocity 11 Km/S
Density 7
Graze Angle 20%

Crater Size 124 Meters.

A crater will be created only if the Density is 7 which
is iron.

Most Asteroids are density 2 - 4.

Most likely the asteroid will explode in Mid-Air as
an asteroid did recently over Sedan, Africa.

However this asteroid is 1.5 LD from earth.

The software which NASA and JPL use to calculate the
orbit has been used thousands of times and is completely
debugged.

These scientists simply do not make mistakes.

Asteroid Doomtards are alive and well.

Small asteroids like this are exceedingly dim objects because there just isn't much surface area there to reflect light. As such they can only be seen when they happen to be near earth. An asteroid's brightness depends on its size, its reflectivity, and its distance. That's why I said this one was discovered "on schedule;" it was discovered not too long after it broke the magnitude 21 level where sky surveys can start to detect it. Just because it can be detected during that short window doesn't mean it will be detected though; it's not sitting still and even the best asteroid surveys and hunters need time to search the entire sky down to that magnitude. If they don't happen to be looking at the right spot of the sky at the right time they'll miss it. The closer it is to earth the faster its apparent motion relative to the stars will be, which makes it easier for it to slip by undetected.

Just watch my YU55 video and notice how quickly the asteroid goes from one end of my field of view to the other; had I been just been randomly hunting for asteroids by scanning the sky piece by piece and I scanned that particular piece just a couple minutes before or after the asteroid went by I would have missed it. The only way I found it that night was by knowing the orbit and knowing where it would be. The farther out from earth you can detect it the easier it is to discover it, both because you have more time to scan the sky and because it won't be moving as fast relative to the stars.

This is why small asteroids present the most likely danger of an unforseen impact; they can't be detected until they're only a few days from either passing or hitting us. That also makes them just plain harder to happen upon.
