Britain Says: Iran faces 'serious consequences' for failing to protect British Embassy Which means what exactly? The US was not involved in the Falklands in any military capacity. Thatcher went to our US allies and asked for support to form a consensus against their illegal invasion of British Territory. It was a political point. That's not an indication of what the Brits could or could not achieve with their boys on the ground. |

I don't think any large military action is ever taken without first getting the blessing of the USA. And, it is not you personally we Americans detest, it is your manipulative Gov't. (Not that ours is any better). We still remember the economic warfare perpetrated against us throughout the latter half of the 19th century. |

Britain Says: Iran faces 'serious consequences' for failing to protect British Embassy Of course. No argument there. Having lost my one and only big brother in the conflict (Goose Green, 29th May 1982), I just resented the fact that there was a comment about "not being able to beat the Argentinians". We did, on our own. |

Britain Says: Iran faces 'serious consequences' for failing to protect British Embassy Thanks mate. It doesn't hurt anymore. Funnily enough, it was said at the time to be about politics (the re-election of Thatcher), and oil (the large reserves are only recently being found and planned)... Same old stuff.... We haven't learned much after all's said and done.... |
