Communism is a pretty vague general thing that includes many different political systems. Many communistic states are "evil", but many democratic/capitalistic states are "evil" too.

Both ways have their fair share of dictators pretending to follow the system too, rigged elections we hear about all the time, for instance.

Lastly.. communism doesn't mean no capitalism or democracy in that state. If people stopped being scared due to 1980's hate propaganda and started actually digging into it and looking at it from various angles, they might realize that the future will have to involve a hybrid system.
