Self Reliance Expo Takeover
Is the Chinese trying to take over the Prepper Movement?

The apparent takeover of the Self Reliance and Preparedness community has begun. Is this a takeover by foreign investors? Scott Valencia is a well-known person in the gaming and computer industry, and for his takeover abilities and company shell games. Why is Scott involved in foreign money? Is it just a money or power thing or something else?

Scott also known as (Bubba DeVinci) has expanded to the self-reliance expos and has partnered with Ron Douglas (Colorado Ron) to form a new company Red Shed Media Group, claiming to be a Delaware company but as of Dec 7th, 2011 no such company exist ( [link to delecorp.delaware.gov (secure)] and Red Shed Ventures, (No verification yet that this company exist in the state of Colorado and no records can be found in Delaware as well). Also they claim that Red Shed Ventures owns the Self Reliance expo and Ron Douglas is the CEO but the only records that could be found was on: 04/14/2010, he filed Articles of Incorporation for National Self
Reliance Organization. At that time, he listed a business address of 7800
Miller Road, Suite B, Frederick, CO, 80504. That company is currently delinquent with regards to the CO Secretary of State due to failure to file periodic reports.

In addition, is now believed, that they have started a nonprofit corporation possibly under a different name or another country, and why also is this man Scott that is known in the gaming world portraying himself as a preparedness person?

In addition to taking over the Self Reliance Expo, they have now acquired the Preparedness Radio Network who was owned by James Talmage Stevens (aka “Doctor Prepper”) in an attempt to gain credibility. Why are foreign investors trying to take over the Self-reliance, preparedness, and Prepper community? And why would know Preppers go along with it?
There's also has been rumored that they would like to take over other Prepper Networks, and to dominate the market under their control. As well as partner with well know host and other networks like the Doom and Bloom Show and others.

Still more questions than answers and it looks like a lot of smoke and mirror. Even if these companies due exist why can’t we find them.

Let us look into the background information on Scott Valencia to understand what and or who is behind this.

The first point to consider is allegations given by Tonya Welch about Scott Valencia that was enough to give the new CPL names like Ryan Schumacher and Hunter Luisi to add some gaming gravitas to the project and apparently try to cast a doubt as to whether Mr. Valencia is still or ever was involved with the new CPL at that time. Thus, the key question becomes who are these new representatives and how, if at all, have they been involved with Mr. Valencia in the past?

According to Ms. Welsh:
“- Mr. Valencia would do all of the negotiating with the owners to get the CPL IP. The rest of us were to stay hidden in the background. Why? Because (and there is a lot of history behind this...) the owners would never sell if they knew who constituted the group making the purchase. It was Mr. Valencia's intention, from the very beginning, to deceive the owners about who was included in the partnership. Mr. Valencia looked forward to 'surprising' the owners with this information when the purchase was finally complete because he delighted in the idea of 'fooling' them. It was an exercise in revenge for him.

Furthermore, we had to stay in the background because we were all still working for, and/or affiliated with, CGS. Not only would the CPL owners not know about the three others in the partnership, Mr. Valencia would get an agreement from them to not reveal his involvement either.”

This information is not relevant to the Prepper world but it says something about the man and companies.

Below is a timeline. This summary is found on the LinkedIn profiles of the individuals being discussed.
Ryan Schumacher
2003 – CEO of WiredLabs (Parent company of AmpedNews.com)
2006 – Sells Company to Games Media Properties (Parent Company of WSVG)
2008 – Games Media Properties changes name to Giant Realm
2010 – Announced as CEO of CPL Hunter Luisi
2004 – CEO/Owner of Team Sportcast Network (TsN)
2006 – Sells 1/3 of the company to Games Media Properties (Parent Company of WSVG)
2007 – Becomes Technical Director at Games Media Properties
2010 – Announced as CTO of CPL
Scott Valencia
Much about Scott Valencia’s career is well known and is public information. Mr. Valencia does not appear to have a LinkedIn profile (it has been deleted only recently) but a Google search of “Scott Valencia VP CPL” returned an interesting result. A LinkedIn profile existed at one time.
2005 – Scott Valencia is Operations Director for the original CPL
2006 – Becomes EVP of Games Media Properties (Parent Company of WSVG)
2008 – Scott Valencia becomes Senior VP at Championship Gaming Series
August 2009 – Linkedin profile states he is CEO at CPL Holding Group (THE CPL)
Mid March 2010 – TheCPL.com starts an announcement countdown
April 2010 – CPL Don’t Be Fooled article comes out
May 1, 2010 – CPL Makes announcement with no mention of Scott Valencia
Is Scott Valencia still involved with the CPL? If there was no merit to Tonya Welch’s allegations, why is Mr. Valencia no longer the public CEO of the CPL? Currently there are no solid answers to these questions. However, there are breadcrumbs and a trail that leads in an interesting direction.
Ryan’s profile is not public but his past title was Business Development Director at Giant Realm (which is the name Games Media Properties goes by today). The first paragraph of his summary says the following:
I founded my first media company in 2003, which was sold to Giant Realm in 2006. I learned an immense amount during my time at Giant Realm and refined my skills to enable me to succeed at my next venture. Giant Realm was sold to Burst Media in the fall of 2009.

Is it just a coincidence that the two names mentioned in press release are people Mr. Valencia has had a long history of business dealings with?
Other interesting questions arise when we study the supposed corporate structure of the CPL First the CPL was allegedly acquired by a Middle Eastern investment group. Then at some point it was called the CPL Holding Group, LLC, with no mention of the Middle Eastern investment group. Now the latest press release says “CPL Digital Entertainment Pte. Ltd is pleased to announce the launch of the new CPL gaming portal and its acquisition by WoLong Ventures Pte. Ltd.” (Emphasis added).

What does all of this mean? Why is there a need for the different names used in every press release and various shell companies holding the CPL? What, if anything, are they trying to hide? Is this all a shell game where one of these companies is run by Scott Valencia? Which one is he under, if any? At the end of the day the main question is why the constant name changes? Is the community supposed to believe that this many independent companies see value in a tarnished CPL brand and want to buy it in a period of one year? Is the community to believe that the CPL brand has changed hands to at least four different company names in a matter of a year?
Even if Mr. Valencia is behind the apparent smoke and mirrors, does it even matter? Perhaps that should make the community pause and take note. If we assume he is still involved, the countdown timer and confusing press release could mean the CPL mislead the community and is hiding the fact that Scott Valencia is still calling the shots.

It is now known Scott Valencia is involved in shell games and foreign money, with partners and or corporations supported by Singapore, China, Korea, and the Middle East, most of the time being hidden by other companies. He is not some preparedness expert nor a Prepper.

Should we be excited or cautious and wary? At the end of the day that is a question best answered by each individual. We encourage you to take what you have read here and make up your own mind. Investigate for yourself and be very cautious. It is this reporter’s view that we should stay away from anyone involved in this matter and be on our guard at all times. Should we stay clear of all of this and ban foreign take over? Or except, that this as just another way for them to make a buck at our expense? That is up to you to decide.
