Re: Iraq an economic Study
Shabibi's coming back, y'all!

[link to www.alsumaria.tv]

Alsumaria News / Baghdad
confirmed CKD Iraqi Central Bank Governor Sinan al-Shabibi issued an arrest warrant, on Wednesday, he heard dropping the charges against him, pointing out that he awaits notification formally in order to return to Iraq. Shabibi said who is outside Iraq in an interview for "Alsumaria News", "It heard the decision to drop the charges against him, but did not reach a formal letter of resolution so far," noting that "can not return to Iraq until it is notified formally." He Shabibi he "will return if notified," stressing the need to "drop the charges for Bank staff and employees because they staff أنزه ", as he put it.
 Quoting: ReVbo™

But, will he get his old job back. Isn't someone else in the position?
 Quoting: calin

That's a good question. Abdel Bassit Turki is there now, many say illegally because he's also chairman of the Board of Supreme Audit (BSA), which is a conflict of interest for him because BSA oversees CBI. Turki is just the acting CBI governor, so Shabibi could still slide right back into his old role. I can't imagine any reason he would want to go back to Iraq other than to finish what he started, at least in an advisory role, if not back in the governor's chair. Shabibi is an old man, and really, more Swiss and British than Iraqi after so many years outside the country. He's certainly not going back to retire. It's hot as hell in Iraq, and there's nothing to do there.
 Quoting: ReVbo™

Is is getting on in age.

It was good though that he was cleared of charges.

BlueEyesInLevis:
WOW

This development will put tremendous pressure on the National Alliance

to simply nominate a new leader..

and as new leader.. BINGO.. new Prime Minister.

I think it is HUGE. We should see Maliki CAVE IN.. we should see the National Alliance dump the Bg Oaf.. if they want to hang onto any semblance of position and power.
-
Time to make a deal you freakin' monkeys!
YEE HAW.

I fully expect this.. along with the other events ( Shabibi cleared, Kurds and NA coming close to agreement, passage of so many laws, demonstrators chanting Maliki must go, the weak turnout in karbala, the rumours of soldiers ordered to vote for Dawa, and on and on) but this especially, to cause the National Alliance to rethink their suport of Maliki -
-
My prediction is that the NA will nominate someone else as leader.. thus Maliki loses his position. There has been a LOT of talk about this before... (Remember the kurds rejected the idea of Jaafari replacing Maliki ...) but now it is clearly the easiest path for the NA to move forward and maintain some level of power... and I think the pressure will mount daily until they just DO IT.

Triple 7: This is ginormous news. Had Barzani been president this past summer maliki would already be gone, power sharing in force and Iraq eons further down the road. I have always felt and saw some articles couple of years ago that maliki has some sort of leverage over talibani, hence he has always gotten right to the point of action and then pulls away. There has been eerie silence from talibani for months so I feel the stroke has incapacitated him. This confirms my belief on this and last year this time talibani handed his letter of resignation to barzani but he refused to move foward but according to articles still has possesion of it. We know how najafi feels about maliki and maliki knows where he stands with the other 4 members of the erbil 5. This should really ratchet up the pressure to almost unbearable extremes. Should give the NA quite a bit to chomp on as well. I am so excited I can hardly breathe or type. If you have read any of my post I abhor maliki and am sickened to my core when I have to look at him. Remermber as soon as he is no longer PM he loses his immunity with the world court in the hague and he is headed for the same ending as the previous dictator.

Washington supports Barzani, president of Iraq now!

Baghdad / Orr News - Senior diplomatic source from Washington to give the White House the green light to the President of the Kurdistan region Massoud Barzani to take over as president of the republic instead of Jalal Talabani, who is lying in a German hospital for treatment. The source said that “the White House took this action despite the rejection of a strong component of the Sunni Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.” He explained that “the Kurdish delegation that visited the United States recently made a number of demands, including the idea of Barzani’s assumption of the presidency of the Republic to surround Maliki through an agreement with Parliament Speaker Osama Najafi, who also sharp disagreement with the Prime Minister.” The source pointed out that “the first action to be taken by Barzani after assuming the presidency is to withdraw confidence from the Maliki before the end of the year to prevent the next parliamentary elections which in the post of prime minister.”

Just support for now. This is probably just another means of putting pressure on Maliki, but they really do need to replace Talabani. He's incapacitated and has been completely useless to Iraq, and us, for a long time.

This can't possibly mean tomorrow is the wrap up meeting that results in implementation of something, can it? They never implement anything. Surely, this is just another meeting to schedule further meetings, right? I refuse to get my hopes up anymore for anything these people do, but damn, I like the way this sounds.

Sources from within the prime minister told the Shatt al-Arab confidential information and serious concern a meeting between a delegation from the Iraqi government delegation from the Turkish government and US-sponsored in the British capital London.

Sources said that the United States has brokered a secret between the two governments as a prelude to the implementation of the oil project strategically, alter the features of alliances in the region in favor of Axis U.S..

, the sources added that the delegation of the Iraqi government form of bilateral Faleh al-Fayad, National Security Advisor and Dr. Tarek Najm Special Political Adviser to the Prime Minister.

delegation met the Iraqi delegation Turkish high-level empowered the Turkish government to negotiate and problem of three people Qrepien of Erdogan.

Sources said that the meeting was supposed to be in Washington, but to preserve the confidentiality, transfer to the British capital London.
and meetings lasted for three consecutive days.

Sources said that the two sides تباحثا and desire an American on a project to extend oil pipelines from South Iraq and across the city of Ceyhan Turkish Europe and convert 80% of Iraq's oil exports through these pipes.
noted that Iraq was now only 20% of its oil via Ceyhan Turkish.

sources revealed that the United States has warned Iraq of probability close the Strait of Hormuz in the near future and thus depriving Iraq of exporting oil through the strait, preferring to accelerate the D pipeline via Ceyhan Turkish prevent any incident and to ensure the availability of Iraqi oil in the world markets.

, the sources added that the United States has advised Maliki remove tensions with the Turkish government and hold strategic partnership with benefit both parties and mitigate the crises in the region, as a prelude to changing alliances Iraq towards America's friends in the region.

Sources said that al-Maliki will remove the current tension with Turkey after the elections and will also settling internal conflicts with the Kurds and Sunnis politically, in preparation for a third term.

PA10:
Very interesting. If 80% of IRAQ oil moves through pipelines across Turkey, the threat of Iran disrupting Iraq oil movement through the strait of Hormuz would be all but squelched. Also very interesting that 'Sources say' Maliki will remove 'the current tension' with Turkey 'after' the elections along with settling internal conflicts with the Kurds and Sunnis politically - in preparation for a 'third' term. I wonder who the sources are? I assume Maliki has been stalling all along in order to leverage US support for his re-election. Maliki has had plenty of time to deal with the Kurds and Sunnis. The UN has empowered the US and Great Britain to 'manage' Iraq oil production so ultimately the pipeline deal will be force fed one way or the other. It's one thing to have oil, but you have to be able to move it to the market 'securely' in order to convert it to cash. I think this is a key component towards underpinning the oil dominated Iraq economy and subsequently, the value and long term stability of the Dinar.

I HAD A 2 1/2 HOUR TEL CONVERSATION WITH MY CONTRACTOR IN BAGHDAD TODAY. I AM ENDING TODAY WITH AN EMAIL HE SENT ME YESTERDAY. THIS PRETTY MUCH SUMS IT UP.

RIGHT NOW --- IT IS LOOKING MORE AND MORE LIKE CHAPTER 7 IS CRITICAL. WE ARE PARALIZED UNTIL CHAPTER IS LIFTED.

Dog,

Please see the article below. I am beginning to understand why there was a Wall Street manipulated GOLD panic. There is true fear for the Dollar on Wall Street. It is actually the US FIAT Dollar that is under attack. As more, and more countries move to do currency swaps with China, less countries will be trading using the US FIAT Dollar. Now France makes the move... This will pressure the Bond Market (Even less foreign investment), forcing a rise in interest rates, increasing the velocity of currency, setting off a heated rise in inflation, further Dollar devaluation, and even more printing... It appears they may be kicking off the US Dollar end game. GOLD may bounce back over the next week. Hard to tell right now.

When we have so much debt, almost a quadrillion in derivatives, currency devaluation, bubble markets, increased printing, no yield bonds, etc., etc., GOLD is going to go through the roof within an 18 month span. Now France has joined in on the attack against the dollar. Unless there is a reset. We need Chap 7…..Unless Iraq Revals... Timing is everything. Nothing is as it seems... It’s a colossal mess over here…….I'll Call you today........or asap.

France plans currency swap line with China: paper

BEIJING | Fri Apr 12, 2013 11:44pm EDT

BEIJING (Reuters) - France intends to set up a currency swap line with China to make Paris a major offshore yuan trading hub in Europe, competing against London, the China Daily on Saturday cited Bank of France Governor Christian Noyer as saying.

Yuan deposits in Paris amount to 10 billion yuan ($1.6 billion), making it the second largest pool for the Chinese currency in Europe after London. Almost 10 percent of Sino-French trade is settled in yuan, also called the renminbi or RMB, according to French data cited by the official newspaper.

"The Bank of France has been working on ways to develop a RMB liquidity safety net in the euro area with due consideration of a supporting currency swap agreement with the People's Bank of China," Noyer told the English-language newspaper.

The yuan's internationalization and bilateral financial cooperation could be among the main topics during French President Francois Hollande's visit to China in late April, the paper said.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius paid a two-day visit to Beijing this week.

The planned swap line would be the latest in a string of bilateral currency agreements that China has signed in the past three years to promote use of the yuan in trade and investment.

It followed a similar step by the Bank of England to set up a reciprocal three-year yuan-sterling swap line with China.

Britain, always anxious to maintain London's status as Europe's biggest financial center, launched an offshore yuan currency and bond market to great fanfare last year.

Kaperoni:
I hate to speculate, but this appears to be a "marching orders" meeting. We may very well see Turki return and execute his plan. Sure hope so anyway.

Revbo:
Kap, if I may ask, what makes you think that this is a "marching orders" meeting? Don't they have these IMF meetings every year?

Kaperoni:
Yes, but they mention the "sideline meetings." IMO, It sure seems that they lining up them duckies.

tlar from a different thread:
Thank you admin Bob. That's alot of articles that are coming out. I think the bank is serious and means business. They are going to get this done. Turki is in washington meeting with the powers to be. He is receiving his marching orders. The difference this time as opposed to takinjg orders from Maliki, is he agrees with the plan and see's the benifits, and knows what this can do for Iraq. He's come to realize that what is good for Maliki is not what is good for Iraq. I beleive he is also being offered support and protection by the US. Obama has to know that if this gets done it will resolve so many issues at once. Issues like counterfietng, smuggling and corruption. If the CBI can just follow through, this will impact the economy and all Iraqi citizens because it is the "right" thing to do. Not to mention what it will do to spur the world economy and shore up currencies world wide.

Re: Iraq an economic Study
What's up with this? CBI just issued a 5 dinar coin, made out of gold. The face value of this gold coin is about half a cent.

And chalk up my first fail in all this (Well, official fail anyway. There have been plenty of fails). Looks like my April 15 thing didn't pan out so well. I'm gonna leave the guru-ing to the gurus from now on.

Kaperoni update:
The CBI (Turki and others) is in Washington and New York in annual meetings all week. Nothing will happen during these meetings.

More announcements or articles should come out to create “awareness” for the Iraq’s.

Today’s opening of the optical cable connecting Iraq to the world is a huge step. IMO, the CBI will benefit first with this real time connectivity. Check that off the list.

Laws are still on the table because Parliament is on break till after the elections. I think they come back on the 23rd of April and will work until May 15th. That period of time will be interesting to see if they can get all the laws passed.

First part of May an economic conference is scheduled in London. This is IMO a final tune up to tweak laws or get a consensus on what needs to be done to open up the free market economy.

May 23rd, DFI funds are fair game. Look for the CBI to act before then hopefully raising or beginning to raise the value of the dinar. If all goes well, we should be very close come May 15th.

Re: Iraq an economic Study
Article is from last year, but still, very interesting. Wonder why there hasn't been more talk of this.

According to Iraq's mineral ministry, country's western desert contains huge reserves of gold and likely platinum and diamond resereves.

LONDON(BullionStreet): After decades of sanctions, war and sectarian violence, Iraq is struggling to maintain it's economy and looking forward to increase gold production along with oil and natural gas.

According to Iraq's mineral ministry, country's western desert contains huge reserves of gold and likely platinum and diamond resereves.

The Iraqi government recently announced a 30 year economic plan for mines and minerals by granting production licenses to foreign mining companies.

The Iraqi government is thus hopeful that gold mining can be an increasingly profitable venture for the country.

However, official gold trade in the country remained in doldrums as Iraq's banking sector required proper training and guidance from foreign banks, analysts said.

Iraq's northern neighbor Turkey offered to support country's banking sector in gold trade.

Turkish Banks Association (TBB) said the Turkish banking industry, which developed new ways of bringing in individual gold savings to the economy, will train Iraqi bankers on how to trade with gold.

The scope of the training will be determined depending on the demand stated by the Iraqi government. The TBB has started a study in regards to the training, which will take place in Baghdad and Erbil following a recent visit by an Iraqi delegation of the Federation of Private Banks to Turkey.

Analysts said Turkey has carried out important studies in trading gold, which is a significant saving tool in Iraq, and we want to benefit from Turkey's experience.

TBB has provided training to countries such as Albania, Azerbaijan as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina and has also been working on training programs for Syria and Lebanon.
