Monsanto PR Firm Reportedly ‘Ended’ by Anonymous
It seems that Monsanto may be having a rough week.

Not only was the company hit by a press release declaring them the worst company of 2011, but a group of Anonymous hackers claim to have actually completely disrupted the operations of a PR firm which manages Monsanto’s own PR.

The hackers infiltrated the PR firm, known as The Bivings Group, citing “15+years of running marketing campaigns and helping some of the most corrupt corporations on the planet, as well as several governmental agencies, cover up their dirt.”

The hackers claimed to have succeeded in bringing down The Bivings Group on December 5th.

Going by information released by Anonymous, Bivings Group shut down all of their servers and liquidated their assets after the infiltration, while former employees moved on to start ‘The Brick Factory’, a new PR firm. The hackers actions are obviously driven by the PR firm’s decision to help run marketing campaigns for corrupt corporations like Monsanto.

Are the hackers in the right to take down a firm which helps corrupt corporations, even though done illegally and mischievously?

Sometimes it is hard to see what is wrong and what is right, though it is quite apparent that Monsanto is a corporation with no regard for human health or the planet. This isn’t the only example of resistance against corrupt companies like Monsanto, and it certainly won’t be the last.

I fired off an email to them some time ago, below is their response to my questions.

I am going to assume since the email was sent directly to me that it is okay to post the entire response I received.

If not, mods please let me know and I will edit it down.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I think this probably got lost in my email.

Monsanto is an agricultural company. Our core crops that could be utilized by food companies as ingredients in processed products would be cotton, corn, soybeans and canola. We have also provided our technology to other seed companies who have businesses that focus on forage (alfalfa for feed) and sugarbeets.

So, if you want to avoid any likelihood of consuming any product that may contain a food ingredient that may have been derived from a biotech agricultural crop, then you would need to read the label and if there is any corn, cotton, soybean, canola oil or meal, it will likely be from a crop grown by a farmer who has planted genetically modified seed.

There are several other significant agricultural seed companies that operate in North America that also provide biotech seeds to farmers and the nature of agriculture production, distribution and processing is that crops are “pooled” so regardless of how they are produced they are pooled and then processed so it may be that the resulting end product utilized by a food company may be a combination of both conventional and biotech varieties. In some cases with specialty oil canola and soybeans, the products are identity preserved because they provide a specific value (i.e. healthier oil profile, reduced transfats etc) which are then targeted to a specific food company.

The same would apply to the use of pesticides in agriculture. They are widely used by farmers (organic growers aside) to protect yield and plant health for both economic and environmental reasons. I am happy to direct you to resources on this subject if you are interested.

Is the nature of your question food safety? Ie.. you perceive that food products that may contain biotech crop ingredients or protected with pesticides are somehow less safe for you?

If you help me understand the nature of your inquiry a bit better, then maybe I can direct you to some additional resources that may be helpful in addressing any concerns or questions you may have.

On your question re: consent of information we do not keep or forward or share that information externally. That clause in our website gives us your consent to send your inquiry to the appropriate person internally to answer your question..which is how I got your email below.

Quoting: WOMAN WHO RUNS W/ WOLVES

The government is supposed to protect people from corrupt corporations and monopolies. It has abdicated it's role in doing so and thus created a vacuum. The void will be filled.

Free markets are natural systems. They cannot be fully "managed."

When the government intervenes, by for example, producing welfare, it prevents charities from doing that work. When the government decides it is the sole producer of food that comes with an opportunity cost to the economy.

When the government stops filling a void of some sort it creates opportunity.

The government refused to regulate corrupt monopolies objectively and consistently and thus created opportunity for someone else to do it.

I'm in no way advocating what the so called "anonymous" does. I am simply pointing out that when there is demand for policing large corporations who literally wage biological, financial and other forms of warfare against the world and it's citizens, that demand will be filled, like it or not, by whoever has the motive to do so.

Like prostitution, drugs, and so forth, comeuppances will always exist, like it or not, legal or not, approve of it or not. It's simply practical economics.
