Re: Massive Methane LEAK in Arctic sea - the End is Nigh
only way to avoid it is to either cool the sea or remove from seabed n burn/eject into space
 Quoting: zepa

other possibilities:

- create another organism (perhaps a genetically engineered bacteria) that feeds on the troublesome bacteria without producing its own catastrophic waste products

- create an organism that feeds prodigiously on H2S without producing its own catastrophic waste products

So respond to this occuring in the Arctic, but not the GoM.

The BEZERK thread was on to this, and the issue in the Arctic about November last year. Pity so many thought it was bogus.

Re: Massive Methane LEAK in Arctic sea - the End is Nigh
A 1km methane leak accounts as 1/510000000

The Earth surface area is 510 million km^2

Assuming there are at least 1000 leaks, and all are about 1km square. That would be 0.0002% of surface area.

Considering the Earths atmosphere 4,200,000,000 cubic km. It would take decades to make the atmosphere explosive.

Rest easy people, this is a non-doom issue atm.

However, should the oceans encounter a globally universal environment where the methane build up is released simultaneously......well, then were in trouble.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1405546

I find that kind of annoying, especially the bit about "it would take decades to make the atmosphere explosive. Rest easy people"

So because it would take decades to make the atmosphere explosive, we can rest easy? Presumably because most of us won't be around in decades when it becomes a problem.

Just push it off on the next generation, and let them deal with it, when it's completely FUBAR. That's been the current thinking from the dwindling neanderthal wing of the Republican Party.

Keep in mind though, that the current standard bearer of the Republican Party, no other than Grand Poobah and Oracle extraordinaire Newt Gingrich is a believer in global climate change and is in support of reducing greenhouse gasses.

We humans were always going to reach the tipping point one way or the other.

The Earth doesn't need us but allegedly we need it!

If the frozen methane under the oceans starts dissolving we are in for one hell of a ride.

Like the dirty old guy, who straps himself to the first tree that, (once they get him down), leads to the whole forest being destroyed... those pesky environmentalists will be saying "we told you so" as we all fight over the last oxygen producing tree.

Apparently saving the human race isn't considered progress... but empty freeways and buildings when mankind is no longer here is.

Go figure!

Would really appreciate an intelligent conversation about where now we see the possibility of the purpose of spraying. Maybe they are helping???? And fuck off noble and snake
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4228659

I noticed "them" spraying with parallel trails leading towards the horizon(right where the sun was) and wondered if they were doing it to avoid some kind of sun problem. Howver, at the time, I didn't consider the Ozone layer. I was thinking more along the lines of solar flares and CMEs which were very big at the time. However, CME and OZONE depletion is obviously a potential problem as well.

Funny, I am not religious, but I think that was one of the first things that popped into my head while glancing over the first page of this thread.

I have associated wormwood with my onomatopoeic interpretation of the word since a child and this scenario fits in with the death of aerobic plant life and the proliferation of hydrogen sulfide emitting anaerobic bacteria.

So, I suppose it was a bit of a gut response, but kind of interesting.

Yo...I say we do it like in Futurerama and mine ice from a comet and toss a giant ice cube in the ocean every year to fix the problem FOREVER! Haha ohhhh wait...you mean to tell me that comets are NOT balls of rock and ice but conductors of energy on filiments thru space towards our sun? Shit...well that was my plan.

"The scale and volume of the methane release has astonished the head of the Russian research team who has been surveying the seabed of the East Siberian Arctic Shelf off northern Russia for nearly 20 years."

"This is the first time that we've found continuous, powerful and impressive seeping structures, more than 1,000 metres in diameter. It's amazing," Dr Semiletov said.

"Some plumes were a kilometre or more wide and the emissions went directly into the atmosphere – the concentration was a hundred times higher than normal."

Re: Massive Methane LEAK in Arctic sea - the End is Nigh
About chemtrails: I think they have multiple purposes, but are mostly intended to accomplish the following:

* Block our view, when needed, of various objects passing through the inner solar system

* Block and reflect radiation coming from the Sun, to prevent at least some heating (which compounds the H2S problem), and to replace the shielding provided by our ozone layer as the ozone layer disappears

* To provide metallic atmospheric particles that work with HAARP to create upper-atmospheric arcs to create ozone in the upper atmosphere

* To provide particles that help scrub the H2S from the atmosphere

Here's some good info from a purported chemtrail scientist. I believe he was telling the truth (though not the WHOLE truth):

[link to www.holmestead.ca]

In that email interview, he explains what HE thought was the purpose of chemtrails - to help mitigate 'UV Summer'. He only explained the problem in the context of human pollution and the ozone layer problem, but never mentioned the greater problem, the warming oceans and H2S. That's why I say he didn't tell ALL of the truth. Maybe he didn't know all of the truth.

In any case, aluminum oxide (also called alumina) has been reported by many to be a part of the mixture. That makes some sense: it's lightweight, it's reflective, it would help reflect some energy back into space. It does have another use too, as part of the Claus process:

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

OLD technology, from the late 1800s. But it's how we take H2S out of a gas stream. It's the best way to do that that we know about. So if we have an H2S problem (and we do) then you'd expect the Claus process to play a part in our defense.

So, that 'roaring sound' people are hearing in the sky? I think we HAVE mastered routing light around objects to make them invisible. Maybe we reverse-engineered that technology from ET craft, maybe we came up with it ourselves. Who knows. But I think that roaring sound is coming from large industrial-scale Claus plants floating invisibly above us, sucking in dirty air (the input gas stream) and aluminum oxide (from the chemtrails) and spewing out clean air. The roaring is from the air intakes and exhausts.

This is just a hypothesis, but it does seem to fit.

Study: Arctic seabed methane stores destabilizing, venting

Mar 04, Space & Earth/Earth Sciences

A section of the Arctic Ocean seafloor that holds vast stores of frozen methane is showing signs of instability and widespread venting of the powerful greenhouse gas, according to the findings of an international research team led by University of Alaska Fairbanks scientists Natalia Shakhova and Igor Semiletov.

...The East Siberian Arctic Shelf, in addition to holding large stores of frozen methane, is more of a concern because it is so shallow. In deep water, methane gas oxidizes into carbon dioxide before it reaches the surface. In the shallows of the East Siberian Arctic Shelf, methane simply doesn’t have enough time to oxidize, which means more of it escapes into the atmosphere. That, combined with the sheer amount of methane in the region, could add a previously uncalculated variable to climate models.

“The release to the atmosphere of only one percent of the methane assumed to be stored in shallow hydrate deposits might alter the current atmospheric burden of methane up to 3 to 4 times,” Shakhova said. “The climatic consequences of this are hard to predict.”

Shakhova, Semiletov and collaborators from 12 institutions in five countries plan to continue their studies in the region, tracking the source of the methane emissions and drilling into the seafloor in an effort to estimate how much methane is stored there.

Because this is concerning methane and the potential for hydrogen sulfide.

Their agenda centers on carbon dioxide and the taxation of it. Their agenda is intended to be demoralizing, placing the blame on mankind.

How would they prove that this methane/H2S problem is caused by man and thus man should be taxed for producing it?

We don't exhale methane. We fart it occasionally, but good luck taxing a fart.

Thread: Tampa/St. Pete ~ loud explosion sound

I think that was an H2S plume flowing east from the Gulf dead zones toward Florida. Either it hit a spark (lightning, cigarette, pilot light, combustion engine, whatever) or we've got our military/navy out there blowing up and burning out these pockets of H2S before they blow ashore and kill an entire city.

Re: Massive Methane LEAK in Arctic sea - the End is Nigh
Natalia Shakhova, a colleague at the International Arctic Research Centre at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, said that the Arctic is becoming a major source of atmospheric methane and the concentrations of the powerful greenhouse gas have risen dramatically since pre-industrial times, largely due to agriculture.

However, with the melting of Arctic sea ice and permafrost, the huge stores of methane that have been locked away underground for many thousands of years might be released over a relatively short period of time, Dr Shakhova said.

"I am concerned about this process, I am really concerned. But no-one can tell the timescale of catastrophic releases. There is a probability of future massive releases might occur within the decadal scale, but to be more accurate about how high that probability is, we just don't know," Dr Shakova said.

"Methane released from the Arctic shelf deposits contributes to global increase and the best evidence for that is the higher concentration of atmospheric methane above the Arctic Ocean," she said.

"The concentration of atmospheric methane increased unto three times in the past two centuries from 0.7 parts per million to 1.7ppm, and in the Arctic to 1.9ppm. That's a huge increase, between two and three times, and this has never happened in the history of the planet," she added.

Each methane molecule is about 70 times more potent in terms of trapping heat than a molecule of carbon dioxide. However, because methane it broken down more rapidly in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide, scientist calculate that methane is about 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide over a hundred-year cycle.

Re: Massive Methane LEAK in Arctic sea - the End is Nigh
More science on H2S and methane releases in relation to ozone collapse and corresponding catastrophic UV levels (PDF):

[link to acd.ucar.edu]

I'll quote a little:

"However, we also find that large quantities of
hydrogen sulfide create a significant decrease in tropospheric hydroxyl radical, leading to a commensurate increase in atmospheric methane. Therefore a large methane flux (possibly from methane clathrate destabilization, Siberian traps or hydrothermal vent complexes) combined with a large hydrogen sulfide oceanic flux is much more likely to lead to an ozone collapse than methane or hydrogen sulfide alone with implications to the Permian-Triassic boundary extinction 250 million years ago."

Given how things are frying from the Sun now, and this frying has been increasing rapidly over the last two years, I would contend that this sequence of events is already well under way, and is probably an unstoppable juggernaut of doom at this point.

And see how everything feeds into everything else. The oceans belch H2S. This destroys the hydroxyl radicals in the atmosphere, which would normally react away methane. But with the hydroxyl radicals destroyed, the methane lingers much longer, heating things up more, which makes more ferocious H2S plumes and melts more methane, making the ozone layer wither away yet more, adding yet more heat...and so on.

This is like a sickness upon the Earth that has to burn itself out before it gets better. This phase won't be done until all the methane has been released, the ozone layer is destroyed, and pretty much everything in the oceans and (to a lesser degree) on land is dead. I truly doubt that anyone on the surface of the Earth has more than five years left to live.
Just passing through.
