I thought kissing in school was against the rules - now if they had kissed a class mate in the same fashion, they'd be suspended and prolly charged with a sex crime, but making out with their parent is okay??

As a parent, I find this to be so disturbing. What were the parents thinking? How can a father or mother kiss their own child in a romantic way?

And the entire student body had to be exposed to that. I would be so livid if my kid came home from school and told me that he saw kids making out with their parents at a pep rally. WTF?

I guess that's just one more reason to add to my long list of reasons to keep my kids out of the public education system. Ugh.

this is interesting. when my oldest son (now 20) was in the 7th grade he had a good friend that just happened to be a girl. during lunch one day they were teasing each other and she had told him that he probably stuffed balled up socks down his pants haha. his sarcastic reply was that he was getting ready cry and needed her to give him a tissue... out of her bra. well a passing teacher heard that part and took my son to the office. the girl went to the office and told the whole story to back him up but it didnt matter. i got called into school and they lost their freaking minds over this. they were throwing out all kinds of sexual harassment accusations over this incident. even though she had said what she did they never said a word to the girl in this case. not that i wanted them to. we still love her like a family member. but this was really getting out of control.

so here is where it got good. they came up with his punishment over the incident. i threw a fit over the sex harassment angle so they stopped saying it... out loud. they came to me and told me they worked out a deal where he would go to a class for a day and receive sensitivity training basically. the other option was a 5 day suspension. first time he had ever been in any trouble keep in mind. so as i read the paperwork i saw where the class was for sexual harassment and in his file he would be marked as a predator all through school and wherever those files might follow you. so i had him take the suspension just to keep that off his record.

i guess my point is that this is surprising to do in this day and age. back in the late 80's when i was in school they did this to us on homecoming night for football. it was funny and nothing was made of it (no long kisses just a quick kiss that was suposed to be a cheerleader and we had to guess which one we had... it was our mothers). but these are politically erect (i know what i said) times we live in now. this stuff doesnt seem to fly anymore.

Now I could understand some little old lady that was a respected family friend, so as to take any sexual element out of it, all in good fun.

I would NEVER do that to my daughter, NEVER. The embarrassment from something like that tops just about anything I can possibly think of. I respect my daughters too much to ever do something like that.
