Slavs were inhabiting the region of modern Germany. Then, the Germanic tribes pushed into what is now Germany, and the Slavs went to the East pushing downwards the Illyrians. The Illyrians pushed downwards the Dorian Greeks who were inhabiting what is now from Northern Albania up to Croatia, who (Dorians) invaded Mycenean Greece, although it wasn't such a hostile invasion as it was thought in the past. Apart from that, Albanians are not believed to be descending from Illyrians but from the region between modern Kosovo and modern Romania. Of course they mixed with hellenized Illyrians, Greeks and Latins but in no way they saved Christian Europe since the West was very secure at that time (they actually have defeated their enemy, the Byzantine Empire so they didn't have a major conflict like the dismantled Byzantine Empire had from all directions) but also the Christian core of that time was the Byzantine Empire (or more accurate, the Eastern Roman Empire). They've also converted en mass to muslims during the Ottoman Era and they have massacred the Christian subjects of the Ottoman Empire, including Christian Albanians too, so......
