[link to ibnlive.in.com] Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in Moscow on Thursday on a three-day visit to Russia during which he will work on further expanding bilateral cooperation and consolidating coordination on regional and global issues. Singh arrived at the Sheremetyevo International Airport and was received by Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister AM Vadakin. Cooperation in nuclear energy is expected to top the agenda. But Moscow is discomfited not only by the anti-nuclear protests in Kudankulam but also by India's nuclear liability law which makes equipment suppliers liable for damages in the event of an accident. |

Russia would LOVE for Iran to be wiped off the map, they would make so much money of the increased oil and natural gas prices for decades to come it isn't even funny. |

Russia could not get some radioactive material, (of which Iran already has loads), past its own Russian customs and out of a country that has vast unmaned boarders all over the place. I'm thinking here that someone in Russia is trying to send a MESSAGE, and not radioactive material. |

Any insight on why Russia would report this? Quoting: Canuck36 Morning Canuk36 - no, waiting to hear more. Will be interesting to see what type of material and who the smugglers were. Just my opinion but it seems like Russia has agreed to let the US take out Iran/Syria. (in exchange for ?) That is the only logical explanation for them coming out and saying radioactive material is being smuggled to Iran. Having Russia of all countries come out and say that gives the US major political ammo for war. |

First Iran with preparing to go into their nuke bunker made public and now this? They clearly are provoking to kick start the war to finish off Europe's economies. |

Having Russia of all countries come out and say that gives the US major political ammo for war. Yes I agree. Just heard that Russia drafted a second Security Council resolution that is much tougher and opens the way for UN action in Syria. Waiting to get more details. A few days ago, the US plan for the No-Fly Zone came out limiting air-space control over only "military" areas. Sounds like that would fly for Russia and keep their nationals out of harms way and allow them to continue business there. |

Meanwhile, South Korea imposes new financial sanctions on Tehran In a statement released Friday, Moscow's Federal Customs Service said that its agents found 18 pieces of metal at the Russian capital's Sheremetyevo Airport after a radiation alert went on. It said that the gauges showed radiation levels 20 times higher than normal. Russia's Interfax news agency said the pieces contained Sodium-22, a radioactive isotope of sodium that could only be produced at a nuclear reactor. |
