The Scrying Thread - share your scrying experiences
I'm new to this. I've tried it a few times with mixed results. Wondering if anyone has had interesting results. I tend to get still snippets rather than moving images so far. I'm primarily using an 80 mm obsidian sphere although I have an extensive mineral collection and might try others. Looking for info, anecdotes, tips, etc.

For those unfamiliar with the rich history of scying, I am enclosing a couple of links.

Re: The Scrying Thread - share your scrying experiences
I saw an entire modern city full of skyscrapers from above. I wasn't scrying, I was just looking down into the water one day. The scene was on the surface of the water and the details were very clear of all the buildings down below.

So, I believe in scrying, even though it occurred accidentally.

Thanks for sharing that. I got into it quite accidentally also, by catching glimpses of things. I'm quite an avid tarot card reader and have a wonderful resonance with the tarot and tend to use it primarily for divination. I thought scrying would be more open-ended, and possibly more fruitful, as the tarot is constrained somewhat by the cards (even tough the cards seem to cover just about everything).

Re: The Scrying Thread - share your scrying experiences
I saw a show on TV once where a man had a black mirror set up in a dark room with one candle for light. He charged people to scry with his mirror. One time a person came down and claimed to have talked with a relative that passed away, and described the whole thing including what his relative looked like; a woman went into the room after the other customer had left and she saw the person in the mirror that he had talked about when she went into the room.

The mirror was very dark tinted glass with a mirror backing. It was about 2 foot by 3 foot in size and was on an easel, but the subject that wanted to contact people on the other side sat on a bar stool about 6 feet in front of it and then they peered into the mirror. The lit candle was off to the side. Somehow this man had made it possible so that people could see and contact their dead relatives with this set up.

The show you watched sounds fascinating :) I'm not sure if that's strictly scrying. It's my understanding that concave mirrors can act as portals. Since I really don't know what I am doing just yet, I am not going to try with a mirror. Nostradamus used water - that might be interesting. Btw, I tried to find some videos on scrying with a mirror or crystal but there is just too much crap on youtube and a lot of these videos are garbage. One guy, the "Celtic Cricket", gave some good tips.

One strong symbolic image that came out of my last scrying session was the interlocked heads of two cats, a lion and a smaller wild cat, perhaps a lynx. The jaws of the small cat were locked on the lower jaw of the lion as the two faced each other. The image was static - there was tension and balance. I am unsure how to interpret it.

I'm thinking that the image discussed above may have some political connotations as I do a lot of political/global situation readings. I have a lot of material coming forth but I'll wait to see if anyone is interested in exchanging ideas and info on scrying before continuing. Thought we might have some scryers on GLP but maybe I'm wrong.

Awesome thread!

I just recently got interested in scrying. Would love to share techniques and experiences. I currently have a concave black disk but haven't used it yet since I've heard this is more for spirit contact

You said you've had mixed results so far...care to share your experiences?

Also, do you have good visualization skills or an "open third eye" ?

Haha - knew there had to be others hf

By "mixed results", I mean some sessions are more fruitful than others in generating images. I chalk this up to my total lack of experience in this area. Some images seem to hold meaning while others do not. Again, I chalk this up to lack of experience.

To be frank, I'm a pretty grounded person and not given to flights of fancy. However, I have good visualization skills and the material that does come forth looks pretty clear. For example, in one of my early scrying sessions, I was flooded with images of aliens and they did not look friendly. This surprised me because I don't really bother with this area, as far as research or study, because it is so filled with disinfo and fraudulent evidence. It left me with the impression that alien involvement in Earthly activity was indeed really going on. I've always been on the fence about this.

As far as methods, I have tried scrying with a couple of different spheres I have as well as just my mind's eye. I always seem to have a rotating palette of symbols and colors that appear lightly when I close my eyes (and come out more boldly in altered states). I don't know exactly where it comes from and wonder if it is natural or residual due to past drug use. I somehow feel that it represents the medium we are in because whenever I was tripping, it was everywhere and everything was connected through it.

I am going to try the Nostradamus method (water in a bowl) and will let you know how it goes! At this point, no method has yielded better results than others. I am just going to continue to switch around until I start getting consistent results with a particular approach. Like you, I'm steering clear of mirrors for the moment.

I feel like I need to develop my visualization skills more. They are unpredictable. Thought of studying the tarot to help with this. But I've never met a tarot reader who is consistently accurate so my trust in the system is low. I suppose if it's used more for a self-transformation tool, the tarot is more reliable.

On the other hand, my intuitive senses have always been good/accurate. Wish I got the inner pics tho...especially after trying many techniques through the years.

Have you tried candle gazing? I've heard combining candle gazing with the water method... Similar to phosphenism. Many techniques incorporate the use of lighst after glow in the minds eye. Kind of like staring at the reflection of the sun in a still body of water. Like some say the ancient people did.

They are quite accurate, at times the past and some present and near future.

If one wants to know they should do the required work themselves.

Tarot is wonderful! I've been reading for many years and am pretty consistent. I use it for divination mostly. I haven't tried candle-gazing yet but I've been experimenting with a new sphere and I'll write about that in a little bit. I was waiting until I did a little more scrying work to post.

I hope you will come back to the thread, AC. I am wondering why you don't share your experiences and if this is the general sentiment among hydromancers. Is hydromancing considered alchemy, then?

Do you feel that the various scrying techniques tap into a possible future or the future? I'm asking because I had a pretty explicit vision that was amongst the material that came forth in my last session. Also I wonder how to gauge timing or even if it's possible.

Yes, I do that (mentioned it here: [link to www.godlikeproductions.com] I probably scry more in my mind's eye than anything else. I never thought of holding a topaz there but will definitely give it a try.

My last session was with a fluorite sphere and that was incredibly fruitful - my best so far. It may be a function of the composition of the sphere or just that I am getting in sync. Also, this particular sphere came to me in an unexpected way - it was gifted to me by a stranger quite out of the blue.

I probably should be doing some protection rituals and I am going to start next session. Early on in my last session, a face appeared and I just thought, wow that's clear and then I heard my inner voice say: "He sees me!" and my heart skipped a beat. He didn't seem malevolent so I'm hoping he was there to help, a guide or just benevolently curious. It did give me pause, tho ...

Heres an application into which you can easily scry. It's called a strange attractor. To do it, drag the 2 black dots inside a bucket like triangle made with the 2 straight line, and capture the smaller dots falling. Then play with the distance between the 2 black ttracting dots and see faces appearing briefly inside the chaos:
