Iran Beginning 10 Day Navy War Games in Strait of Hormuz & Beyond
Per the linked story, Iran has not made a decision to potentially close the Strait of Hormuz.

While Iranian Naval exercises are not new, it appears Iran will be testing the waters (pun intended) out further than they normally do. Look for the USA to silently place its own ships in places of annoyance during Iran's manuevers.

These manuevers will last through Christmas and the New Year so keep a clean pair of underwear on at all times.

Chicago Tribune doesn't make it sound as innocent as Iran does.

Market Watch brings up a good point.

Almost seems to be timed with the withdrawal of forces from Iraq. Have they been scared to up to this point? Will they shut down the strait and invade Iraq?

eh, nothing usually comes of these things right?

And I guess the US 5th Fleet is stationed very close to all this in Bahrain.

Expect some one fingered salutes.

Maybe they are going looking for Osama Bin Laden's body that was "Buried at Sea".

They have the capabilities to give Israel or the West "good" reason to strike. Historically wars have been started by countries faking attacks by others (like the Gulf of Tonkin incident) during heightened tensions.

Putting the metal close to eachother and Israel likely itching for a reason to attack add up to a potentially disasterous sequence of events. Then again, i'm not getting doomed up anymore!

Ugh, although I feel a war is just what the West might need to provide unlimited excuses for the MASSIVE fiscal adjustments that need to be made in the EU/USA, etc

I disagree, but appreciate the enthusiasim.

The world is aligning for something.

The Falklands are providing further conflict with practically all of South America siding with Argentina this time. Brazil has vast resources that the West wants and will suck up to get.

North Korea could fall or go into a civil war at any time. The Patriot missiles supposedly going to South Korea are adding tension.

Taiwan and China are always a catastrophe waiting to happen.

The argument over who has rights to the South China Sea has Vietnam, China, etc all up in arms.

Syria is crazy and who knows where that is going.

Iraq is having pains already with protests starting due to the bombings the day before (all right after the US left).

Russia is sick of the US's interference with their affairs and is a strategic partner of many of the other potential "axis" of China, Iran, Brazil?

Seems spooky, but then again I've never paid this much attention to foreign affairs before.

Screwing with the "petro-dollar" is supposedly what got Sadam overthrown. Sadam started only accepting Euros for his oil which severly threatened the foundation of our shake dollar reserve currency.

We placed bans on Iran selling their oil, but India (largest customer) isn't that much of an ally to give it up. Iran started accepting gold for its oil and that irked the US as well. T

Read up on the petro-dollar its fascinating (i'm in finance).

Why would Iran care where the body of OBL is floating???

This "exercise" is nothing more than a testing of our alert systems in the region and a walk thru as to when they do close the Straits...which they will do after the Syrian / Israeli war starts

Your right, I just expect the unexpected. I'm surprised this story isn't being publicized more.

Definetly curious to watch how the oil price fluctuates over the next 10 days.

For now, MERRY CHRISTMAS

dont underestimate the power of space age weaponry, if iran has capeabilities of advanced weaponry power it could subdue the us navy.
not that i know this but since they shot down the drone im suspecting that iran is quite advanced

Good point. You can't underestimate your opponent.

Asymetric Warfare has been very problematic for the "superior force" when facing a determined and motivated enemy.
