Weird - Lose control of Left Eyelid just before falling asleep
Lately I seem to have lost control of my left eyelid just before falling asleep. Sometimes I want to open both eyes so can use the bathroom but only my right eyelid opens. I have to use my brain "a little harder" and tell my left eyelid to open and then it "listens" and from that point becomes fully functional.

I did have left eye twitch a few months ago and told my doc about it. Never had this eyelid problem though. It's like my eyelid is ignoring the signal for a second, then the muscles wake up to open the eyelid.

I do have a "mild" herniated disc in my neck (several years old) which a doctor told me affects sensation in scalp and could cause twitching in the eyes. But this eyelid thing is new.

Seems harmless, but quite annoying.

I should add this it's not only just before falling asleep. Sometimes I'm just laying in bed trying to fall asleep and I "sense" I've lost control of my left eyelid. Maybe the lower blood pressure that happens when laying down is just enough to cut blood circulation to nerves in that area? Maybe herniated disc causing lessened control?

Ideas GLP? Nothing serious, right? hiding

Thanks for the thyroid tip. I'll have it tested.

Wonder if caffeine could affect it. Seems worse when I have lots of caffeine. I also have difficult sleeping from getting up to use bathroom 4-5 times. Damn prostate! (I'm 43)

I googled thryroid + eylid and came across this condition, "Myasthenia gravis" which somewhat matches me:
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Though it talks about general muscle fatigue and tiredness, which I don't have.
