KARMA CARNAGE: Sol Lew’s $510 million tax sham scam backfires as he sues his own kids to recover the loot

One of Melbourne’s richest business patriachs, Solomon Lew, is embroiled in litigation, filed on the quiet on the last business day before Christmas, suing his own kids and parents of his grand-kids in the Supreme Court of Victoria over a dodgy tax avoidance scheme that appears to have gone horribly wrong.

BELLY-FLOP BACKLASH
The retail billionaire was making huge belly-flop waves this time last year when he and fellow billionaire Gerry Harvey attempted to push the federal government into imposing new taxes and massive delivery delays on even the smallest online purchases from overseas. Lew’s reputation was already in the mud but he succeeded in dragging the once-popular Harvey down into the bad-name pig-sty in which the notorious rag-trader had wallowed for many years.

BILLIONAIRES Solomon and Rose Lew have moved to protect their fortune amid bitter disputes involving their children's estranged spouses.

The couple want the Supreme Court to endorse a 12-year-old verbal agreement they say they had with their children to protect part of a $600 million trust.

Documents lodged last week show that in 1999 the Lew Custodian Trust had reserves of $621 million and the billionaire retail king "was advised by his financial advisers that the federal government may introduce a change to the taxation laws such as to impose a tax on the undistributed reserves of trusts".

He said Mr Priester, a businessman, tried to strike him through the open car window.

The matter has been referred to detectives from Melbourne CIU but no police investigation will be launched until an official complaint is lodged by Mr Priester.
