On the subject of burning in hell from my Mother, circa 1968 I asked my mother about my sins and would I burn in hell. I was 14 years old, had lost my virginity and Mom found out.

Her reply:
"The bible tells us that God loves us more than our own parents can imagine. If that is true, with as much as I love you and your brother, no matter what sin you committed, I would never want to see you burn in hell."

I trust my Mother's instincts on this. The bible has many great lessons in it, but it also has the hands of man on it. Which makes is suspect to me.

And - I live a good an honest life. I do not believe that because I don't follow a doctrine that I'm going to burn in a lake of fire. That, is not the act of a merciful God, for simple human 'mis-understanding' (if that's what it truly is) while living the 'right life' anyway.
