What happens if you die and didn't get a chance to repent?
If i were to be like, "tonight i will repent, tonight i will accept Jesus Christ as my lord and saviour, i will repent tonight"

and i was about to pray and repent and then i had a heart attack and died?

would i go to hell?

To me repentance is a lifelong deal. Other than that I don't know what to say about his.

There are many rules that need to be learned and this happens over a lifetime. Not in one day.

That's the best way I could answer this question. Repentance is a monumental task. We learn daily, weekly, and monthly the things we need to change adding to our knowledge of the rules we need to adapt to. It's not something we get down on our knees or do an altar call and accept Jesus into our hearts and are saved.

It's monumental change that occurs over a course of someone's life, not one day, or an "I accept Jesus into my heart" altar call.

The Bible also clearly says Jesus said

Matthew 18:19-20 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

So if Christians asked Jesus for the world to be forgiven no-one would have to suffer the second death.

Problem solved!

Re: What happens if you die and didn't get a chance to repent?
Repenting changes nothing. What does change things however is your awareness and control you have over your mind. When you cross over after death its a process that can be explained by math. There is no guy with a beard sitting in a throne casting judgement. Thats a fairy tale for idiots. If you cant control a dream then you cant control the next phase. If you have nightmares now then so you will at death. Now is your chance to master the higher dimensional frequencies. Its not easy so get to work. Life does not go easy on bobbleheads.

Re: What happens if you die and didn't get a chance to repent?
The minute you believe in the Lord Jesus and turn from your sins, you will be forgiven.

It's not the kind of thing you can "put off" for later. That's like saying "I don't believe right now, but I will choose to believe later on tonight." It doesn't work like that...either you believe, or you don't. Yes or no. And it's instantaneous. If it's something you think you can put off for later, then that's not really faith...you may want to ask yourself what is holding you back in your disbelief.

Also, as another poster mentioned, while salvation is instantaneous, repentance will also be a thing you will continue to do throughout your life. You will already be saved, and you cannot lose that, so you won't continue to repent to "be saved"...you will continue to repent out of gratitude for God having saved you.

Hope this helps.

...one more thing I would like to add...in the original Greek language in the Bible, the word "repent" literally means "to change your mind." In other words, this refers to your belief. ..to "change your mind" about your disbelief.

The reason I bring this up is because while you will continue to repent "from sins" throughout your life...it is your FAITH that saves you. Once you repent of your "disbelief" you are saved.

Actually you cannot repent by yourself because repentance is a gift from God. If He blesses you with that gift then He will make sure you live to accept it.

But remember he was addressing his Apostles at that time....

But to OP's question. You might as well say next year, or in 10 years or before I die I'll accept Yeshua. The DAY of salvation is now (notice it says DAY)!!!!!

If you can say that you are "going" to wait some period of time you are saying "No Yeshua, not right now I DON"T NEED YOU!" Then yes, that person is not saved. If you know who Yeshua is and truly want to serve Him you will fall down on your knees right there and then. I've seen grown men get on their kneed at a park outreach because they KNEW THE TIME OF SALVATION WAS NOW!

So the question is OP, if you believe in Yeshua as much to say I "will repent tonight" why the wait???? Do you want to live in the "world" that much more??? Do you love the world that much more????

Repentance is not a prayer but a choice to turn away from sin and turn to God by accepting Yeshua as Lord, God and Savior and follow him every DAY and NIGHT.

There are no "magic words". Why would you say, "Tonight I will repent." If repentence is in your heart, have you not already turned from your sin? Or are you saying, "I'll repent right after I get done sinning some more."?

If that's the case, then that may not be true repentence anyway.

God knows your heart.

10Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

11This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Re: What happens if you die and didn't get a chance to repent?
Hmm...the original question almost makes it sound like we somehow have a right to at least have the chance to repent.

We have no such right.

Those who will repent are those whom God has chosen to give a spirit of repentance to. If you repent, it is because the Holy Spirit has regenerated your dead heart. The Bible says before that happens, we are dead in our trespasses and sins.

Can a dead person exercise his "will" to be somehow be brought back to life? No, an outside agent must act upon the dead person. That agent is the Holy Spirit.

That's how God saves. It's not an act of man and his own will.

God chooses, and he has that sovereign right as creator. He himself said "Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated"

people remain ignorant on a simple FACT---no one knows WHEN the soul seperates from the body/the exact time
and during that transition Christ definitely IS there along with the demons
and you still have your choice to make...and being G_d IS ALL MERCIFUL make the right choice.

its call incarnation over and over to learn the necessary lessons. some learn faster than others. there is only one "end", either your uncreation if you choose against eternal life, or eventually your perfection in glory. each makes their own choices. You cannot perfect yourself into a 6th stage spirit being in a single life. but those aware on this very negative planet can make better than average progress in this life, thus moving at a faster rate. Negative beings are given eternity to choose the light and truth and change of their behaviors if necessary.
