Over 462 trillion becquerels Fukushima strontium in Pacific Ocean, Seafood risk
[link to www.examiner.com] At least 462 trillion becquerels of radioactive strontium have leaked to the Pacific Ocean since the March disaster at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant, making it one of the world's most severe such cases of marine pollution, according to calculations by The Asahi Shimbun newspaper.

Because Strontium accumulates in bones and can cause bone cancer and leukemia, health experts have called for extensive surveys on the amount of leaked strontium so measures can be developed to manage the problem.

"Because strontium exists with cesium, and its volume is estimated to be less than 10 percent of that of cesium, few surveys have been done to gauge the volume of strontium in marine life."

The Japanese government has been hiding bodies according to Yoichi Shimatzu, former editor of Japan Times last month who also revealed on Rense Radio that government is not reporting number of deaths by nuclear radiation ! Same story !!

Damn the Japanese are a bunch of sheep; their government is hand in hand with this utility company(TEPCO) trying to push everything under the rug, while pretending there's now damage to the environment or risk to their health. I'm guessing the Japanese fish market is a lively as ever, selling the radioactive laced fish to their entire population and or importing them worldwide.

How long will it take before some other country on the pacific ocean starts crying foul on how the Japanese are indefinitely poisoning the ocean and the environment? It's an absolute outrage for them to be pumping and dumping billions of gallons of highly radioactive water back on to the Pacific Ocean, while the UN atomic commission and countries of the world sit on their hands doing nothing about this!

That's scary.

During my saltwater reef aquarium days, I had to test for strontium because corals used it to build their homes. It's such a necessary nutrient for sea life. Sad they will be absorbing the radioactive version.

Coral Reefs like we see in the deep South of Greater Japan
as well as the Great Barrier in Australia are highly important for the Fish Population,
they are a kind of Breeder!~

I don't get your question!

It sounds like a lot,
we should ask Asahi Shinbun to use the Peta Calculation
than we can read 0,462 Petas,
this sounds more Tepconese!

Our Body cant see the difference between natural Iodine
and the Iodine from Nuclear Power=plants,
"the Inspector" is a very good GC for the cheap Class
but i doubt that he can see the difference!

Seaweed is a rich and well known source for Iodine!

To get the real amount we need to check the Seaweed
as well as all the other Food in a real Detector!

There is no need to stop Seafood in the UK,
also you can buy a lot of Fish from the Southern Hemisphere
like from Chile and Antarctica!

Beef, Pork and Chicken from the Meatfarms are much more
harmful (steroids, anti-biotics, Sedative)than even light radiated Seafood,
at the moment the big Majority of our Seafood is still Okay
even here in Japan!

Radiation Poisoning? “Scientists Fear Entire Ocean Affected [link to www.pakalertpress.com] The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration declared a recent rash of seal deaths to be an “unusual mortality event” on Tuesday. More than 60 seals have died and 75 found diseased in Alaska with skin sores and patchy hair loss. The Fish and Wildlife Service has also identified diseased and dead walruses. A similar official declaration for Pacific Walrus in Alaska is pending. The walruses have suffered from similar symptoms, which have also included labored breathing and appearing lethargic. Scientists have yet to identify a cause for this disease, but tests have indicated that it is not a virus.

"Despite being below these limits, the contaminated seafood still represents a health risk, particularly for pregnant women and children, and it is putting those far beyond Fukushima at risk as the seafood is shipped to supermarkets far and wide.""

ANCHORAGE — Tissue samples from Alaska's sickened ringed seals will be analyzed for evidence of radiation, but the scientist preparing to do so says he doubts there's a connection to the Japanese nuclear plant damaged by a tsunami last year.
