SE Pennsylvania, we had same wind here in Virginia, (sort of northern + central, well Fredericksburg) yesterday, very strong, constant. I finally went out in it to walk, being desperate for excerise, and it nearly knocked me off feet many many times.

Well, that is just weather, people say, but the wind was accompanied in your area with the noises!

and the hum as in the hum of St. Petersburg, florida, family video, (Pine Trees, father, mother, 'kids...get in the bathtub...this is not good, oh 'jesus') was accompanied by NO WIND AT ALL. AND a sort of mirage sort of thing in the air.

I got the goosebumps when I read your post...wind and sounds that your husband heard.

I have been researching this all day, all I know is I dont like the sound of it and I don't believe this is a hoax

Do you think it might have something to do with fracking and how the sound is somehow transferred though the atmosphere under the right conditions?

Seeing you are from the Fredericksbug area, you must really be unsettled over this stuff and I understand that. I was in southern Delaware at the beach when the big quake hit in Virginia and I don't think I will ever forget it. Must have been worse for you.

east central florida just in the past 20 minutes. rumbling coming from the east. sounded like big plane taking off, or rocket test. i know it was neither.

OP, have you abandoned this thread? I don't see that you have posted since the morning of the 13th. In respect to you I have a theory I would like to put out there, but do not want to start a new thread.

I would encourage people who are posting strange noise posts and videos to give a location, rather than just the country or if in the US, a state, please list a city and state or country.

If you can do so, I can verify my hypothesis and will post.

A host of plausible explanations may now exist for these enigmas, including earthquakes, rock bursts, mud volcanoes , explosive venting of gas, storm-driven waves, tsunamis, meteors, distant thunder and so-called booming sands.

"It seems there is quite a range of processes in nature that might be responsible," Hill told OurAmazingPlanet.

"Earwitnesses" described sounds like booming cannons or falling stones accompanying small to moderate earthquakes in England from 1880 to 1916. In 1975, U.S. Geological Survey researchers managed to record both acoustic and seismic signals of an earthquake swarm in California, finding that three earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.0 to 2.8 produced sounds that began within 0.02 seconds of the arrival of seismic waves at the scientists' station. Similar results were seen with quakes in the French Pyrenees in 2004.

All in all, audible sounds from earthquakes might be perceived even when shaking is not, Hill suggested. For instance, while earthquakes are rare in coastal North Carolina, they are relatively common in the Charleston area of South Carolina, the site of the 1886 magnitude 7.6 Charleston quake, and the area that Seneca Lake is located within do host low-level earthquake activity. Locals could be hearing an earthquake that is too small for them to feel.

Also, rock bursts, where long-buried rock can suddenly release stress, often because of mining removing confining material above it, can essentially be seen as a type of small, near-surface earthquake. Scientists have reported feeling perceptible jolts and hearing sharp booming sounds from such bursts, Hill said.

Giant waves might also be responsible for the mystery sounds, Hill suggested. Scientists have found that booming sounds are apparently familiar to big-wave surfers during extreme waves. In addition, after the catastrophic 2004 magnitude 9.1 Sumatra earthquake and tsunami , multiple witnesses said they heard loud, offshore booming sounds closely accompanying two or three of the largest waves that struck the coast at any given site.

Groaning

The moaning of the Earth is akin to material snapping, screeching rock strata pulling across other strata, and vibrations of rock strata under tension. Many sensitive people report becoming ill prior to earthquakes due to similar vibrations, not particularly heard, but felt by the body in any case. In similar manner, many more humans will feel ill during the week of rotation stoppage, and not just due to the stress of the moment, but due to vibrations in the underlying rock strata. Is this simply a motion, or perhaps a noise? No, as pressure on rock results in more than motion or the noise that can result when such motion translates to moving air, thus noise. It has been reported that pending quakes can be sensed by radio, as static on the radio increases just prior to a quake, by hours or days. Pets likewise get up and move about, sensing something, as do farm animals, but this is not something their human owners can describe, not a sound or a sight seen. Rock strata, under pressure, changes the emissions, electrons, magnetic fields, and other subatomic particle flows mankind is utterly unaware of but which nonetheless exist.

I havnt read all the posts here yet but the videos Ive watched so far about these sounds remind me of the earth sounds in the caves of tibet.

there was a video of those also but my search for one was unsuccesful.

anyway, I think it is the earth making these sounds, why is anyones guess.

geneva, florida. 10:55am today. strange rumbling that lasted about 5 minutes. yesterday lasted 15 minutes and was at the same time.

The earth IS moving, or rather the crust is...due to shifts in sea level which causes continental subduction and coastal/small islands to rise up.

there are some very real scientific reasons for what is going on. and believe me, they are scarier than aliens.

btw...accelerated glacial melt is the trigger event for this. Similar thing happened back in the permian period:

hot, dry earth. Eventually huge extinction event...possibly methane related/ some huge off-gassing. the jury is still out.
