United States 01/17/2012 03:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Archaeologists uncover 1,100-year-old tomb of female singer in Egypt's Valley of the Kings Archaeologists from Egypt and Switzerland have unearthed the 1,100-year-old tomb of a female singer in the Valley of the Kings, officials have revealed. It is the only tomb of a woman not related to the ancient royal families ever found in the valley, said Mansour Boraiq, the senior official at the Antiquities Ministry in Luxor. He said the coffin was remarkably intact, and that when it was opened this week, experts are likely to find her mummified body with a funeral mask moulded to her face. Most were destroyed in the last 2 centuries... crushed up to use in paint, fertilizer, medicines, unwrapped at dinner parties or burnt in steam trains. Some were even unwrapped to provide cheap butcher's paper. |
