If Hollywood moguls had their way, they would make it illegal to buy a DVD and then lend it to your friend for a week.

Torrent sites have shown evidence that studios already abuse SOPA by issuing wide ranging take down notices based on half-assed search algorithms that identify media they both have no stake in and are clearly open source. Universal was issuing DMCA takedown notices for BBC documentaries. (PS, THIS VERY SITE violates SOPA because of the ability to upload your own avatar)
