A must see for any fan. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9111203 His TV shows were really good too. I've got a box set of a bunch of his TV episodes. Love them. I remember watching them syndicated when I was a little kid. I really wish they'd start releasing more of his films on blu-ray. So far all we have is Psycho and North By Northwest. |

Glad to know that's not the case. HUGE fan!! In descending order, my favorite AH films: The Birds Psycho Rear Window Rope Rebecca Vertigo Also, if you go here: [link to www.archive.org] you can download (public domain) and listen to every episode of his thrilling, chilling Suspense! Quoting: Roentgen® I know...Hollywood's gone down the drain... He was pure genius - no other director could keep me at the edge of my chair watching a movie that takes place entirely in a single room! (Rope, Dial M for Murder, Rear Window are the best examples) And for everyone to know, I'm not some kooky old fart remembering the good old days - I'm a college student! My generation, listen up: Alfred Hitchcock films are the best! Go to Blockbuster, Redbox, Netflix or even the Library if you have to and watch these classics! A comparison of Rod Serling's adaptation (starring Inger Stevens) and Alfred Hitchcock's adaptation (starring Orson Welles ) of "The Hitchhiker" shows that the most chills come from AH. Quoting: AttackOfTheKreel Excellent point. I'm going to watch those back-to-back now! How amazing were Hitchcock's special effects for the time? The guy was born in 1899 and started making movies in 20s. He revolutionized film. Cool article on some of his special effects skills. [link to www.alfredhitchcockgeek.com] Did you know he had a fear of eggs?! lol From his IMDB page: "I'm frightened of eggs, worse than frightened, they revolt me. That white round thing without any holes . . . have you ever seen anything more revolting than an egg yolk breaking and spilling its yellow liquid? Blood is jolly, red. But egg yolk is yellow, revolting. I've never tasted it." |

That's Alfred for you - he could look dead serious while saying the funniest things (usually with a morbid twist)...that's partly why everyone liked him so much! :D The AH version of the Hitch-Hiker was actually a radio drama, not a movie - the link to get it is a few posts up. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9111203 Anyone like The Twilight Zone too? Oh yea! Love the original Twilight Zone series. Didn't care so much for the 80s version of the show... but the episodes from the 50s and 60s are awesome! |

A detective was certain the wife killed her husband, but couldn't find the blunt weapon she whacked him with. She invites the suspicious detective to Easter dinner...and serves him the previously-frozen leg of lamb. Quoting: weegie I don't think I've seen that one. Sounds interesting though! |

Lester User ID: 9122932 United States 01/22/2012 10:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Rope is one extremely amazing movie. All set in the one room, the sun tracking across the penthouse window, serving the buffet on the chest that the dead-David is stored in, typing the books given to Davids father with the rope that strangled him. John Dahl and Farley Granger give amazing performances as the psychopaths based on Leopold & Loeb. The horror of Rupert as he realizes... The music also inspires a nausea and unsettling effect. Vertigo is similarly under-appreciated. Also like The 39 Steps plus both versions of The Man Who Knew Too Much. North By Northwest is always fun. Couple years ago we saw The Trouble With Harry and it was an entertaining farce, especially the bit about the clocktower. Charade and Wait Until Dark are other great films done in the Hitchcock Tradition along with George C. Scott in RAGE and HARDCORE. Rod Steiger also played a Hitchcokian serial killer in NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY. |
