It’s a problem that has left neighbours rather down in the dumps.

Waste at this urban rubbish tip has grown so tall that it is towering over a nearby housing estate – even dwarfing a four-storey block of flats.

Residents say the eyesore, made up of household waste, industrial refuse and rubble, is a health hazard and is covering their homes in black dust.
Ironically, the offending tip is run by a company aiming to benefit the environment. Refuse Derived Fuel Ltd shreds and dries combustible solid waste and turns it into fuel, reducing the amount going to landfill.
