Interesting things going on in Vermont...

" . . . governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it . . ."

Re: Vermont Secession
Though I subscribe to the general ideal behind the movement, it (and most of the people involved) does not live in the real world...Tom Naylor lives a few miles from me, and is considered by all to be...Shall we say...A tad eccentric...

It will never happen...Just like the bid for Killington (and two other towns) to seccede and join New Hampshire...

We already have the lowest unemployment and crime rates in the nation...What exactly would seccession gain us?

Re: Vermont Secession
How about freedom from an uncontrollable federal monster. The most powerful elected official is supposed to be your local sheriff. The farther away from you geographically and the further up the governmental hierarchy is supposed to mean broader power, but less of an effect on the individual. The federal government has broken loose from the chains of the Constitution.
