Sounds a bit like a hot air balloon burner, the euro fighter makes that kind of noise. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9922887 Nah, this sound kind of pulsates, it went on for about 5 mins then I had to get back to work indoors. Went out to lunch armed with my phones recorder but nada, not a peep. How fucking frustrating! Remember, many people are only still alive as it is ilegal to shoot the fuckers. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 5903633 United States 02/06/2012 09:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Never thought I would ever post a thread like this as I thought these weird noises were bullshit but I am hearing a really odd noise over us at the moment, Im based in Hertfordshire. Quoting: coyles The closest I can explain what it sounds like is the noise a hot air balloon makes when they boost the flame to give it lift but it starts quiet, gets loud then quiet again, not cutting off like a balloon would do. It cant be a balloon as its horrible grey thick cloud after the dump of snow we had on the weekend. Anyone else in the area hearing this? I would love to go and record it but I'm at work and I dont think my mobile phone would pick up the sound. That's the sound of the banksters, royals, and corporations rolling all of England's money into their trucks for their own gain. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1294875 United States 02/06/2012 11:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP, I am in the southwest US, but I heard something very similar about a month ago. The difference was there was also a strange "rattling" (for lack of a better term). I though maybe a giant truck was going down the road, but it never got further away, just pulsated in volume. This went on for about 5 minutes before going away. So no, I don't think the "weird sounds" are bullshit, either, not now! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 8609303 United Kingdom 02/06/2012 03:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is definitely something going on. According to the British Geological Survey, the sensor at Market Rasen picked up a few rumbles today. Short period: [link to www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk] Long period: [link to www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk] Very long period: [link to www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk] I have no idea whether this could have been behind the "noise", but it's a start. Several other monitoring stations around the UK also picked up similar readings, including West Acre which I believe is in Norfolk. Very long period: [link to www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk] and Stoke, which is in the North East of the Midlands. Short period: [link to www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk] I have not heard any reports of earthquakes, so they probably aren't as bad as they look, but the earth is moving for someone, somewhere! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1369739 United States 02/07/2012 03:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | well, that is a good description of the noise, never thought to describe it that way. I heard it while at a park in Upstate New York about 3 weeks ago. Went on for about 20 minutes. I've told about it before, but I still can't believe - I was at the park again Sunday and everything was same as it's been for years. Quiet except when there are kids playing. But 3 weeks ago? FREAKIN' loud pulsating overwhelming sound coming at me from the sky while everything was bathed in a pink sunset! My dog didn't react because sometime we take her to the airport and she's used to hearing a 747 take off. (Park is nowhere near airport though). |
