Enteric coronavirus infection in a juvenile dromedary (Camelus dromedarius)
Arno Wu¨nschmann, Rodney Frank, Kem Pomeroy, Sanjay Kapil
Abstract. A case of an enteric coronavirus infection in a 6-week-old dromedary calf is described. The
animal had diarrhea for 5 days and died despite symptomatic treatment.
Numerous viral particles, approximately
140 nm in diameter, with club-like projections were detected in the feces by electron microscopy. These characteristics were consistent with a coronavirus. Immunohistochemical reactivity with 2 antigenic group II coronavirus-specific antibodies confirmed the presence of viral antigen in colonic epithelial cells. The death of
the animal was attributed to a neutrophilic and emphysematous colitis that likely was caused by an infection
with a Clostridium sp...

If it was camels or the fleas on them.. well that would be a big problem..for them.

Today camel racing is an expensive hobby that few can afford because some breeds cost more than the most luxurious cars in the world, with prices reaching as high as one million Qatari riyals ($360,000)..Every year, several camel races are held in Qatar and other Gulf countries. The races attract enthusiastic crowds of dignitaries, citizens, and residents. Participants compete for valuable prizes. The most valuable prize is the Golden Sword awarded at the end of the year at the Al-Shahaniya track in Doha," he told Al-Shorfa.

Tala al-Nehma, owner of a camel breeding farm, said many farm owners spend heavily on camel breeding, adding that the Qatari government provides many benefits to support farm owners, including water and veterinary services... [link to al-shorfa.com]

The sensitive and intensively bred animals are washed at least three times per week.“ When Birgit Kemphues learnt from her Arab business partners how difficult it was to find a suitable shampoo for the camels, her contact to Heinrich Wilms from Bad Essen came into play. The resourceful developer already offered a product called PinusFauna, whose watery extract extracts the effective ingredients from pine wood. It can be very effectively applied in cases of mite attacks, skin impurities, insect bites and stings and other irritations. Consistent further development provided a shampoo which is ideally tailored to meet the particular needs of valuable Arab camels..

I agree Treyfish, I posted on the previous page that I think that this coronavirus is probably already well established in many parts of the globe.

I think that it has spread far and wide already and that too little was done too late to contain it.

I really hope that I am wrong, the future will tell us.

This, coming from the source that it does, is more than concerning.

It is loaded.

We are entitled to know who and why the personel in the World Health Organization are, that instituted these decisions and actions.

It is imperitive that they are held accountable for their involvement.

Withheld Mild Jeddah Beta2c Coronavirus Cases
Recombinomics Commentary 04:00
March 26, 2013

Al-Memish, who is also the chairman of the National Scientific Committee for Infectious Diseases, said that only a few people had been found positive in the world.

Symptoms of the virus include runny nose, general feeling of illness, mild sore throat, cough, headache, low fever and chills. It can also cause respiratory, intestinal and neurological illness.

The official said most of those infected recover completely with no complications after receiving the required supportive therapy.

The above comments are in response to the most recent nCoV case in Riyadh, who was a contact of the recent fatal case (39M) and his infection was characterized as mild. In addition the English language report cited above, local comments, which were widely reported, also noted that most of the milder cases were in Jeddah.

Break to last paragraph...

The withholding of the information on these mild cases raises serious pandemic concerns, and WHO’s silence on these cases is hazardous to the world’s health.

This, from the World Health Organization is so damning against that organization and some of its personell, that I have taken the unprecedented act of giving the thread a global pin so that it stays front page of some time to give as many people as possible the opportunity to see first hand who needs to be held accountable should this coronavirus cause any more deaths, let alone a pandemic.

If that pandemic eventuates these people need to face murder charges, and I do NOT apolagise for the position I take.

camel are often grazed or taken care off by Bedouin hence in desart areas , the desert has caves the that contain bats , fruit bat will eat dates or figs found at in or around watering holes used by herders , I am thinking bat dropping or food contamination , , or ticks picked up by the herders from sheep camels goats that have picked up the virus .

This person is unlikely to be a poor saudi as he travelled for medical treatment , and his age would make me think that he unlikely to be looking after camels for herders or the wealthy , is it possible he was a racing camel owner ...... if so then that would put him among the elite and therefore explain the medical bills being paid .

can we find out were in saudi arabia he travelled from ?

was it mecca ?

medina ?

had he recently been on umrah?

again the age would lead me to think unlikely however he could new living in what is in an expensive area to live

If no information is given out on this case then in all likely hood i would suspect him to be one of the lesser princes or brothers to .

as trey fish mentioned the racing camels are well looked after a big business , but the sheep and goats are not , and as i am sure you will appreciate bathrooms for the herdsman are few and far between.
Don't get me wrong they wash regularly, at least five time a day ,when water allows , I know I;ve been there done that ,and believe me its not easy to ration oneself to a single jug of water a day .
Especially in desert climates .

Well from your last post Id say that would definately be a serious under-estimation on your behalf.

You have very clearly nailed down pretty much all of the possible permutations of vectoring that could exist.

Its an excellent list.

Are you sure you wouldnt like to be a medical investigator, you pretty well are one already.

Why thank you Arkay , just a little lateral thinking i suppose ,and knowledge of the area and peoples cultural habits , mixed up with lots of travelling experience and a willingness to look at things without prejudice's but simply as they are .
I have been most fortunate in that i have had the ability to travel and the willingness to learn, and that during those travels my hosts have been most gracious showing me there ways , and allowing me into their family homes
not always easy in this part of the world .

Ummm, it wasnt an outright compliment though that is well earnt as well, simply a statement of fact, but from the tiny snippets that I have picked up on over time, I am not in the least surprised to learn this latest information also.

In fact it fits pretty well with what I have imagined the picture to be.

And the term lateral thinking, well now there is a term.

Have you read Edward De Bono, he invented the term.

I watched him talk on TV a while ago, what an absolute genius, one of a kind, especially in his field of expertise, but a true gentleman as well.

Aside from that I would love to know what your IQ is, I will bet its over 140.

Tell me if Im right!

I really shouldnt be here at the computer at this time, its 3.45am local and I have a huge day in front of me, but then again this might be a good thing!

I will sleep well!

However, several experts suggest that superspreaders, which turned SARS into a global outbreak, could do the same with this new virus. That term refers to people who buck the transmission trend with a given bacteria or virus, infecting many more people than is the norm.

Dutch virologist Ron Fouchier gives a succinct answer when asked if a superspreader could profoundly alter the pattern of spread with this emerging virus: "Yes."

If the virus infected someone who turned out to be a superspreader, and that person sought care in a hospital that wasn't taking precautions against novel coronavirus infections, this new disease could rapidly begin to resemble SARS.

The talks with the family of the deceased would have arisen. Also one of the animals had fallen ill. The camel in turn could have the virus from a bat. The Arabs had fallen ill in early March and last Tuesday was flown by private jet from Abu Dhabi to Munich for treatment. Now, the body will be transferred promptly to his homeland...
