Gnostics value knowledge above all things, as knowledge is power. Anything to boost man's ego to make him feel more powerful and God-like is valuable. To believe that one can save himself. Gnosticism believes that God is at fault for creating a flawed system. There is a reason why Thoth and his friends gave the Sumerians and Egyptians knowledge to create the stair-step evolution. Of course this concept is most likely going to end up being countered by the theory of duality and synergy to balance good and evil, but I am going to explain it anyway.
