Quoting: Neo81xxx Indeed, they might be installimg their own worms or something... hehe :) the internet is a web of interwoven networks. You simply can't take it offline. Very true its why anonymous cant shut it down, thanks to cloud based computing. At one time you could have done this very simply and now not so much. |

Neo81xxx User ID: 1487804 Australia 02/21/2012 08:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The only explanation for them saying that users "worldwide" will be cut off is possibly due to the whole internet kill switch stuff. For the USA to kill internet to the USA they need to have one point of entry to do it properly... maybe this is one step of the process to enable this type of internet kill switch. Taking out DNS will not kill the internet. You need to kill the protocol the internet relies on. So this means stopping a protocol, the language you computer users to talk to another computer. This is easy when you have one point of entry into a country or network. To do this people need to be cut off temporarily while all networks within a country are routed through a single point of entry/exit. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 11200852 United Kingdom 02/21/2012 08:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is BS, there are tens of thousands of DNS machines on the internet. Its estimated that Google alone have over 100,000 servers worldwide of which a high proportion are DNS servers, so taking a few off line in the USA would not cause any problems in the long term. Anyone who has linked directly to those affected mahines as their DNS servers might have a problem, but few people have the technical savy to do that, and if they did, they would soon realise the problem and select new DNS links. |

Take down the grid and the internet is TOAST! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1212638 Oh, interesting..... but that would shut down the world effectively, it would be chaos no banking, communication or transport at a international level. This task is not so easy and the way things have changed its not going to happen any time to soon. |

Controlled chaos for a time, until they can restore "Order" on their own terms... |

I think the reluctance shown by Obama for a strike on Iran may be in fact disinfo to throw off Iran. I have not seen any updates on the Navy sites since Friday on the location of Carriers or other warships. Attack may indeed go down on or near the 8th. |
